Can you really compare two players who played in very different eras? In today's world, Gerrard is most definitely a legend imo, so are the team of the 70s + 80s. Same position, they're just different players and legends for different reasons.
yes but I ask the question again, how can you put a player who has yet to reach the heights of true greats who have won numerous Leagues and Europeam Cups on the same level footing or above, it's completely flawed.

It's a bit like saying somebody is as good or if not better than Usain Bolt even though nobody has seen him officially run under 10 secs or win Olympic gold just because he's really fast and MIGHT have it in him to run faster, you can't put wannabes on the same level as somebodies just on the basis of guessing, Souness ACTUALY did it on numerous occasions like Dalglish, Rush, Hansen and Ray Kennedy for instance.

Players don't win cups/leagues - teams do. That's why your argument carries no weight.

this is my whole point, if you look at the past great Liverpool teams they had some good players and then apart from that you had your Dalglish, Souness, Hansen and Rushies of this world who stood out a bit more and had more of a direct influence on winning those major trophies, Barca have Messi, Inniesta, Alvez and Xavi ahead of your Busquets, Piqué and Abidal, the special players stick out amongst the decent to good players and that's why they are called World Class. If you look at Gerrard he has only stood out from rubbish to ordinary players and has never played in teams which have regularly won the big honours of League and Champions League so all people are basing Gerrard on is might be's, if Gerrard had signed for Chelsea he would of played alongside better players in Lampard, Essien, Carvalio, Terry, Cole, Robben and Drogba where it would of been harder to shine and stick out like he does in rubbish teams like we have had. This is why Gerrard has always looked better than he actualy is and why he can never be regarded as true world class, never...

You post this as if its fact, but its just your opinion. Gerrard is world class, deal with it.

He has been world class when he was being selected year in year out in the FIFA team of the season by people who know football much much better than you. You can think whatever you want but very few people will be convinced, believe me.
