The club and the fans stood by him because we all knew we were astronomically fortunate to have him. I don't feel like he owes us or the club anything but he certainly shouldn't be coming out with words like 'Nobody supported me'. has he said that "nobody supported him " ??? if he has then he is a liar , the fans and brendan have bent over backwards to back him even dalglish did and it cost him his job , sorry lius your losing friends very quickly here mate .

radio merseyside reporting this utter nonsense from suarez "he wants to leave because of his image has been tarnished " really luis tarnished go away unbelievable comments from suarez , i agree with dunk and many others yes great player but totally untrustworthy , if he want to leave to enhance his career by playing CL football then fine , but this utter tripe coming from him over the press and his image dear me surely he is having a laugh . Completely agree, faz. It's a bit rich for him to speak about his image, when he's dragged the image of the club through the mud on several occasions due to his own poor behaviour. He owes the club big time, and he's paying them by saying he wants to leave. correct mate , the crowd sing his name , he has had 100% backing from fans of LFC , brendan every week signs his praises in pressers and now he repays the fans and the club like this , yes he is a very good player and scored goals , but sadly this has been over shadowed by his own stupid actions . Don't worry yourself faz, this is modern football. They say loyalty doesn't exist simply because it doesn't. I'm not gonna lose any sleep over this Suarez affair, he can fck off. Hendo will always be better off without ya! as they say dont cry over spilt milk.

If 40 is release clause and someone else offered say 45 is it in our power to only accept higher bid?

He owes the club big time, and he's paying them by saying he wants to leave. I don't understand why he owes anything to LFC, the club supported him because he is very important to the cluband I don't think he got any undue support in the biting affair. He was asked to pay a fine and the club accepted the punishment rightfully, may be he was looking for the type of support he got in the Evra incident. He's concerned about his image - well the club have gone out of their way to defend his image. If it means that much to him, then he should appreciate that. It was in LFC's best interests to keep a player of his standard, yes, but they could have treated him badly and put him in the reserves. That wouldn't have been good for his image or his career. He has been and still is under contract with LFC, so they can do whatever the hell they want with him, until that changes. The club has treated him well, shown him unbelievable support, and given him the platform to get to the position where the best teams in Europe are vying for his signature, so don't come out with this "he doesn't owe the club anything" talk. It's nonsense. What unbelievable support has the club shown him in the biting affair? Don't be naive, whatever the club did, it was to protect their asset, thinking that anybody owes anything to anybody is nonsense, he has been paid to do a job and he did it well, he [oops] up and he was fined for it. He has a contract, but, if there is a release clause, it is an option he has that he can exercise. And what platform did the club give him, he won't even be in the Europa league, let alone champions league. The platform that such players are looking for is Champions league.

If 40 is release clause and someone else offered say 45 is it in our power to only accept higher bid? Of course not, but why would someone offer £45m when his clause is only £40m?! The only person that would do that was booted out of anfield last year and is currently unemployed. If the clause is £40m, then that is the fixed amount required to buy the player. If one club offers £40m there is no point whatsoever in another club offering more as the £40m offer from Club A will still be accepted.

For those who say the clause is £40m and a bidding war cannot start.
It's all in the wording...
The clause: At £40m we will allow Luis to talk to clubs, but we reserve the right to sell to the highest bidder whether he likes it or not.
So the likes of Athletico, Monaco, PSG, Real, Juve, Man City, Bayern. Could easily start a bidding war!
Hope after the Confederations Cup We get this sorted ASAP.
