They have quality Faz but no depth to the squad compared to City or United. They have also had a constantly unsettled side just about all over the field the entire season due to a constant rotation of injuries, a manager being sacked and endless vitreous filth being hurled at Raffa rather than the board there. That had also a hugely unsettling effect on the playing staff too. Furthermore you can chuck in the usual suspects in that dressing room not helping the cause. He has done a superb job in the number of months he has been there, end of.

If he would have started the season as a supported manager they would have walked at least second all day.

You and EMP can deny the reality of it all you like but at Chelsea FC Mr Benitez has done a job very few could and far better than most.

I would say he has done a professional job. not a very good one. a very good one would have been to remain in the title race, not get beat by swansea or city in the cups .

he stayed in the champs league spot and won a fairly easy europa league contest despite being outplayed by benfica

was he a disaster - no..was he very good -also no.

i am not winding anyone up , i have my opinion and i will stick to it because i know i am nearer the truth than the love-in for chelsea's manager , pity our present manager cant get the backing you give chelsea's manager .

1) respect has to be earnt
2) this thread is about the europa league final so why would people be backing brendan rodgers??
3) make no mistake, the europa league IS a big deal so why can;t we congratulate an ex-manager on winning it? after all, our current manager is pleased that we're not even going to be in it next year even though he knows full well how important those european nights are to Liverpool Football Club!
4) it's all well and good defending your opinions, but more often than not your opinions are based on denying facts and making up your own bvllshit to support your dislike of them man.

Yeh, that's about the size of it Car, length and breadth.

Not going to happen EMP with that atmosphere. Did you notice how the results picked up drastically after he came out with that both barrels statement telling the fans to grow up and back the fu*ken team.

I havent' pulled up the record from then on in, so could be dead wrong but his defeats after that (where the plastic's mostly buttoned it) in all competitions are probably on a par with United.

Feel you are being more than a tad harsh but that's you're right smile

Was RB brought in to only win the Europa League? Don't think so. Roberto DM was sacked because he was out of the title race and RB did not get Chelsea back there, did he? I my books RB did well, not great but good. If he had been great, I am sure he would have stayed, Abramovich doesn't care about fans feelings, RB will not stay because Abramovich thinks that JoseM is better and I agree with that. RB is good but JM is better, I am convinced.

That's not correct at all Vish. Firstly are you telling me that any manager who comes in when the season is already in full flow (and thus is not starting level with everyone else) is then going to turn around a deficit and win it? Even Mourhino wouldn't have beaten United without his own pre-season, player choices and coaching, yet Raffa should have without also being the golden boy and more like the pariah? Realism please mate!

Secondly, Mateo was sacked for a number of reasons the biggest probably that they were out of the Champions League already bar a permutation and 150 goal win necessary in the last group game and also sufficiently far enough behind in the league to have little chance of winning it. Again Raffa somehow should have done better with that?

Just don't see it at all.

If chelsea were out of the title race then no one could have got them back in!

RDM was sacked for failing to get the best out of torres. And then dropping him in the CL because he thought they'd be better without him. And then losing the game.

No manager could have done more than Benitez in the time given. These idiots celebrataing the apparent return of JM have clearly forgotten how boring they were to watch. They should keep Benitez, or Man City should snap him up.

I think JM would have done better and we'll see it next season, doesn't mean RB is bad though, only JM is better, what happened at Inter at least is a proof.

That proves nothing. The Inter squad that Benitez inherited was full of Mourinho-type players that Benitez wouldn't necessarily have signed, due to the differences in the way that the 2 managers set up their teams. A few good players left and the remaining ones may or may not have been suited to Benitez's style. Therefore you simply cannot say that Mourinho is better: he had 2 years to shape the squad to suit him. Benitez had just 6 months and hadn't been able to sign any first team players at all (leading to him asking for support in the january window); during that time he still managed to win 2 trophies though.
