i wonder how many players he brought in during his time here..probably near 100. he is all over the place. there was a report its about 80 odd and out of that amount it come to the conclusion that only about 12 to 15 were successes the rest very expensive flops , the likes of Gonzales, leto, paletta, josemi AQUILANI to name a few . How many of his so-called buys were 1st choice options? Probably 10% How many of his so-called multiple buys were leftover scraps in the market because he had to wheel and deal to cough up the cash despite seeing CL money disappearing into bank interest repayments? Probably 90% Let's have some perspective before some of you have a go at the man. If he had been properly backed by the funds he EARNED from CL success, he probably would have just strengthened the squad with a few first choice buys instead of experimenting with 2nd rate players. He would probably have built a strong squad like how the scum have done over the years without wheeling and dealing. Let's have some perspective guys.

lol u mean u were waiting to jump in with a net spend calculation. kenny doesn't get a net spend figure when spoke of the 100m he spent.
benitez bought too many players , and too many crap ones too. There is no sense in looking at gross spend whether it be for Rafa, Kenny or Brendan. We could sell the whole squad say for 80m and give that huge transfer fee to a manager, however, he would then have to buy a whole squad that doesn't make it that hefty, does it? Coming back to Rafa, I think he had his time as we were not progressing anymore, may be he was tired and ran out of ideas, we came 5th in his last year and not qualifying for champions league started then. That said, I think that the risk of taking him would have been much lower than an unproven BR. We'll really know what BR is made of in the next few months, no adaptation time required now.

Actually his flops came in mainly at less than 5 mil bar Aquilani, who was and is not a flop, but was not given a chance...

You're wasting your time "Cout...". Faz is only here to wind people up. i am not winding anyone up , i have my opinion and i will stick to it because i know i am nearer the truth than the love-in for chelsea's manager , pity our present manager cant get the backing you give chelsea's manager . 1) respect has to be earnt 2) this thread is about the europa league final so why would people be backing brendan rodgers?? 3) make no mistake, the europa league IS a big deal so why can;t we congratulate an ex-manager on winning it? after all, our current manager is pleased that we're not even going to be in it next year even though he knows full well how important those european nights are to Liverpool Football Club! 4) it's all well and good defending your opinions, but more often than not your opinions are based on denying facts and making up your own bvllshit to support your dislike of them man.

For a long time Rafa was told by H&G that he had to sell before he could buy. He wasn't after stupid money or a lot of players but he was denied, by H&G, the chance to bring in the type of players that would (in my opinion), have taken us up a level and probably would won the premier league. None of us really know whether RB would have actually won us a league title......but he did get us into 2nd place despite having to deal with hicks & gillet. Imagine if he'd got us into 2nd place and was then given the type of money that kenny spunked away? 2nd place plus £130m to spend......? Only a fool would suggest that he wouldn't have won the league under those circumstances with a supportive board.

Yet again you are right on the money. Go and have a cup of tea and a chocolate biscuit. Well said young man.

Nobody gave KD 130m (don't know where this figure is from anyway) and RB would not have got it unless he would have sold 90m worth of players. The net spend was about 40m for the 2 seasons.
