all am trying to say is there is no certainly when it goes to cup compilations or one of games and the manager should be praised for winning it even if the were the clear favourites. would you go along with that?

but i always thought chelsea would win it best team left in it the draws were kind to them and last night they hung iin there and took there chances unlike benfica who fluffed it big time , but apart from drogba its the team and squad that won the CL just under 12 months ago , so very nice for them but i believe teams like chelsea with the squad they have should be doing well as i said won the CL with de matteo , tonight with benitez because they have the great squad to win it .

my old gran could have managed that chelsea team to win the europa - and rafa didn't even deserve to win that game.

As you say, they should have won it and they did, Rafa did his job, just confirming that he is a good manager who knows how to win trophies. Likewise, City should have won the FA cup, but, didn't and we should have been higher than 7th, at least higher than Everton, but, we didn't, so job not done. If you look at it, Chelsea performed as expected, thanks to Rafa but not City or us. Fergie for instance, in my books overperformed as City should have won the league, Mancini was sacked because he didn't reach the objectives given to him, he underperformed.

Amazing how many Liverpool fans are so happy CHELSEA have had success , becoming the only English to win all three euro cups .

Faz, you can say Chelsea were the best team, dead certs to win, etc., but the game is not played on paper and you of all people should know that. Yes, Rafa had good players to work with... but he also managed the competition well and made some good decisions like converting Luis to a midfielder. He got more out of Torres and improved their defensive play without Terry. The ingrate Chelsea fans look like the biggest t1ts in Europe at the moment... and I don't think Liverpool fans should act that way. The Rafa revisionism gets on my nerves too... but you have to credit the man for what he has done at least.

Lots of people are saying football lost... and money won tonight. But we have seen it time and time again where a team like Benfica play lovely flowing football and don't put any decent pressure on the keeper. Benfica played Chelsea off the park in the first half... but it was Chelsea that tested the keeper twice despite getting outplayed. I will say, however, the disallowed goal was harsh... he looked level to me. But if that were the reds out there winning a dodgy game (and don't forget our 5-4 game against Alaves) we'd take it and celebrate the trophy.

If I were Man City I'd be seriously thinking about Rafa... as he is one manager that could improve their dismal CL performance.

What he said
