Have a feeling it will take a very "special one" to beat Paislys record.

Pete: Berg, I'm just not cut out to be a good person.
Berg: I know. That's why the Lord gave us good looks.

One statistic about ferguson though is mind boggling. When Michael Knighton bought man utd (or tried to) in 1990 the club was valued at £20m.

Last week the capitalised value of man utd on the New York stock exchange was £1.8 billion. After adjusting for inflation the clubs value has increased a hundred fold.

Of course much of this is due to the sky revolution but even so a remarkable statistic and most of it due to ferguson

yes and the stadium has gone from 55'000 to 78'000 and likely to be 90'000 with in 10 years and thats down to success brought by ferguson and has had a champions league final played at it , look we can all be parochial and say bob was the best etc but ferguson is the best , he built the team from nothing they were terrible when he took over , if you remember stan we sed to sing to teams in the late 80's "your going down with united" then ferguson took over and it took time to turn it around but he did it with the help of liverpool f.c. and kenny dalglish in my opinion making it easier for him .

KD made it easier for him? BS in my opinion. When he won it the first time, was KD still the manager? You are talking as if KD has been our manager for 26 years. BTW, didn't KD won it for Blackburn Rovers beating Fergie's Manure, and that Blackburn team was built from scratch.

1990 semi final villa park liverpool 3 crystal palace 4 , liverpool had beat them 13 nil that season and liverpool would have gone on to the final beat man utd and martin edwards admitted if united hadnt have won that F.A.Cup they would have had to sack ferguson , but united went from strength to strength , won the cup winners cup , the league cup , then 93 won the league , and you say liverpool and dalglish didnt help sadly it did by letting the grass grow under the feet of the club , and dalglish not picking the right team at villa park putting two full backs on the bench instead of ronny rosenthal .

And KD has been picking the team since, in the mean time, Leeds, Blackburn, Arsenal, Chelsea and City won it. How many bad players did KD buy in 90? He was not even at LFC when Fergie won all those times. What kind of analysis is this, I call it witch hunt. How did KD win it at Blackburn Rovers if you were right?

KING KEN knocked Liverpool off it's perch not Fergie, as Faz says Dalglish lost the plot big time towards the end of his reign in his first stint as manager, Jimmy Carter and David Speedie anyone, the Palace semi was the watershed, four centre halfs on the pitch and two full backs on the bench says it all, he even used to drop Peter Beardsley in favour of an extra centre half against Wimbledon, he was the first Liverpool manager i ever knew who sent a team out worrying about what the opposition was going to do first rather than what we were going to do, the man should never have his name sung atv Anfield in my opinion, disgrace.
