I thought the forum could use a topic about something other than the everton-united situation. So if you were a manager, what formation/tactics would you play? Doesn't have to be related to LFC, but the formation you'd play if you had time to build a team and bring in the players to fit your system.
I'd play a 3-3-3-1, set out as:

-----------RCB--------CB--------LCB--------
RWB-------------------DM----------------LWB
---------ARM---------ACM--------ALM--------
---------------------STR-------------------
I'd have them playing not to differently to how we play now, except that the attacking right/left players would stay more central, relying on the wing backs to provide more of the width (and as we'd have 3 CB's they'd be free to push forward).
The LCB and RCB would be big strong players for no nonsense tackling and an aerial threat and defending, with the CB being a ball playing defender capable of passing out from the back.
Then a pacy striker with good movement to drag defenders out of position, and an ACM with a great eye for a pass e.g. Coutinho, to thread through balls into the space for the ARM/ALM to run onto.
I think that formation would be hard to break down with the 3 at the back, and dangerous going forward.

What formation would you guys play if you managed a team? 5-3-2 with 2 quick wing backs full of stamina like Alves, Johnson, Evra. Such a formation can change quickly to a 3-5-2. I don't like it whan there is only 1 player all alone in front. BTW am also fed up with all that Everton and United crap, as if one thread was not enough, looks like there is nothing to say on LFC.

Any Fifa/ FM career I've played, I've always used a 451/433 type formation. Very similar to how Chelsea play now, and what we have been playing recently too. I really like our 433 attacking style, where the front 3 all inter-change, very Barca-like, but when we play opposition that requires more in midfield, playing the 451 can be equally as effective.

I wud build a team/ squad of players that can play any formation without the players under performing ...
Against the top 5/6 teams in the epl..I wud of played a 4141 formation.. This season .. Ie....

Suarez
Against the Rest of the teams.. I wud if played 4321....

In addition I'd sign an imposing CM and an attacking CM, plus a goal poacher. In the Winter Window I'd sign a top quality LB and an RW. That should complete the rebuild and set us up for top 4 and even maybe a challenge for the title.

Half back's, sometimes referred to as CB's, centre backs, and more often referred to as 'ya bloody great gobshite' when they make mistakes!

Yeah badly needed bit of muscle there gnp, just barely at the quality we need in those positions though, would love Erikson but doubt if we'd get him for 10/12m, think he'll go for closer to 20m myself but 20m is reasonable for top quality. We paid that for Torres and Suarez and 'twas money well spent. Even though you can get lucky with cheapies, I still think quality beats quantity any day.
