Maybe he bought in a few players he believed would come better in the future. He didn't really have his scouts set up, so probably went for players he had high hopes in. To be fair on the fella, during the jan transfer window, he did pretty well, and this is after he's had time to see how players respond to his game under more pressure and over a season. May be, just may be. I will anyway wait till the end of the season to conclude what I think of him, but, can't call this season an improvement over last at least so far. If people think that we have a crap squad, can anybody claim that Southamton has a better squad than us, common, we were not even unlucky but were completely outplayed

I agree, there squad isn't as good, in fact they had 3 players over the age of 24. The question I'm asking is why haven't our experienced players lead very well this year. Sure, Gerrard has had his moments and Suarez has carried the team, but Agger, Skrtle have been bad, especially Skrtle, never rated the guy to be a constant first teamer.
Today we were beatin by a team that wanted it more. It's time for our team to show their desire, and the experience players to lead.

Isn't it up to the manager to motivate them and get them to believe? This is how it works in any organisation, the first rsponsibilty of a manager is to motivate his team.

Well in that case. Most managers are failures, because if they were any good then every team would be motivated by their managers, and would be winning games. Sadly, it comes down to skill too. Something we need to have more of. I actually think that our team are punching above their weight.

Not really true though, one of our players Suarez is punching above his weight and having a stellar season. If it was not for Suarez I dread to think where we would be. Too many 1st team players are hiding and having very average seasons ie Reina, Gerrard, Agger,Skrtel, Enrique, Johnson, Downing etc and those are meant to be our senior pro's. It is concerning when these senior pro's are constantly outshone by our younger players Sterling, Wisdon, Suso, Coutinho, Sturridge when they play. Add the fact that this is Allen's and Borini first season at the club and surely the finger should be pointed more at our senior players than those 2.

I agree. Our older players that have had a taste of the big European nights are the one letting the team down. Agger, Skrtle, Reina, Johnson, just not playing that well on some occasions, too inconsistant. Gerrard has been good in general though, even if he isn't his best by any means.
It's the other older players that are stepping up in Enrique and Downing that are showing consistently. These guys have been quite reliable, while not being brilliant.
We just need to find a balance. Last season we couldn't score but had one of the better defences, this season we can score buy the bucket load, but are weak defensively.

Defo need defensive reinforcements in the summer.
Reina is playing out the season before a move to Barca Skrtel has looked a shadow of himself, perhaps last season was a flash in the pan and his normal level is the level he is playing at last season.
Makes me wish we had taken that 20million from the Mancs for him.
Bring in Vorn, Williams, De Vrij and Cissokho, players who are hungry to play for BR and that would improve the situation a hell of a lot.
Too many passengers in the team at the moment imo

He's a manager that's never done anything. I don't think he should be sacked just yet but that's only because there's no good replacement for him yet.

Calmed down alot since i started this thread i do think BR should and will stay for another year at least anyway, do think its the first time since Rafa left we're shown real progress hence why i was so tick on Saturday as if we beat Southampton we'd be only 6 points behind Spuds with a better run in. Still with the games we have left we should make a good push for 6th and try finish 5 or 6 points off 4th, that to me would be real progress. More goals and wins now under BR than we had under Kenny hopefully keep that up we play Villa next away i think and we cant afford to lose that they'll be battling to for survival hope we can do Wigan and ourselves a favour
