Why fight for 5th? Downing has come out talking about 4th! Usually it's gerrard or rodgson who get over excited with a victory and comes out with some old nonsense about finishing well beyond our means.

It's one thing talking about it on a forum, but would you put your hard earned pension on it? ;-)
It's nice to think that one day we'll back in the top 4 but there is nothing to suggest that it's likely to happen for a few years yet, other than an unrealistic assessment of our current ability based on blind faith.

It's nice to think that one day we'll back in the top 4 but there is nothing to suggest that it's likely to happen for a few years yet, other than an unrealistic assessment of our current ability based on blind faith. I would never put my pension on a football match even in the glory days under paisley. But I am not talking about winning the title here just gaining 5 points on a very dodgy arsenal

i'm pretty much siding with stan and coolflames on this. i have many fundamental differences with coolflames. i disagree with the vast majority of his posts in fact but his right, like yours or mine to post on here remains true. if you're wound up by him....it's on you vish. sorry man, i just think that's the way forums are.

Cool talks some complete tosh at times (but don't we all) and he does sail close to the wind occasionally but he also posts some very good stuff. It takes all sorts to make a forum and Cool is our pantomime villain but I do admire his resilience.

5 points from 5th, it's doable and I'd be more than happy to settle for 5th (although that 4th spot which is 10 points away will still be in my mind)
