kuyt and bellamy had already departed before he took over so we did lose a bit of experience but that was out of the managers hands. we were dire in the league last season and got worse as it went on, the cup runs just clouded our decline.
BR has had to bring younger players through and give them a game. he inherited a young and thin squad. he's had to lower the wage bill and he hasn't exactly had it easy.
how many new faces have we seen this season? sterling, robinson, suso, widsom, shelvey playing regularly. he's getting the best out of our poor players from last season. we're seeing the best we've ever seen of enrique, downing and henderson a combined total of £42m.
with joe allen fair enough he hasn't played well. but what should a manager do in this instance? apart from drop him? thats the exact thing any good manager would do. he came back into the side and managed to get on the score sheet. he's still got time to be improve, lots of time.
when we have a full squad fit, since our January buys i feel we are now a match for anyone. we are improving all the time with a young team and he's only just beginning to assemble his own squad of players.
the problem is the negativity and refusing to see the progress. one loss and we're in turmoil. some liverpool fans are becoming bi-polar these days. its turning into a joke.
So BR inherited a squad not good enough to beat Oldham? Common. One thing he definitely did is that he managed to reduce expectations of some fans massively. Do you know that we are out of all competitions and it's still Feb? What is the exact progress according to you? Last year at the same time we were in 2 cups and still in the fight for 4th (until 3rd March, the Arsenal home game). Where have we progressed? Probably in ball possession but ineffective.
didn't everton struggle against oldham away from home too? it was the FA cup, we played a weakened side and got punished. thats what the FA cup is all about. how many big sides have we seen struggle against lesser sides? it happens. its unfortunate, we should obviously be beating teams like oldham but you can't base everything on one result can you?
last season from what i remember, we were already poor then got to christmas and went from bad to worse. the cup runs just clouded how bad we were in the league.
if you can't see any progress since our january signings then you must be blind. the manager hasn't had all that much time or money to stamp his mark on the team and had to bring youngsters through. we've only just started to get going.
is it really fair to judge him after just 7 months in charge? how often does a change in manager have a positive effect and provide immediate success? extremely rare. so what do we do? sack manager after manager and give them 6 months each to bring us instant success? it doesn't work like that and he hasn't had it easy. have a bit of patience, we're going through a transition and he's had to reduce the wage bill and bring young lads through. all this wanting everything yesterday is going to be the downfall of LFC. judge him when he's managed to make the squad his own and got his methods across.
fair enough we should be doing far better. but we've still got chance to improve in the league on last season. next season we'll be much stronger just a shame that sturridge arrived 6 months too late. our young players will have more experience and we'll be able to strengthen a few area's that will improve the squad.
we're capable of far better next season and i'm confident we'll improve. i cant see us doing this bad next year. really don't think a sacking is the solution at all. where is it going to get us?
would just be another step in the wrong direction. look to the future
