So in other words one will have failed more successfully.

Our current manager up until very recently was talking about 2nd place never mind a Top 4 place.

Now if it was an expectation for him, is he naieve, unduly optimistic or just telling the fans what we wanted to hear?

Whatever one it is we are no longer in the running for a Top 4 place, exactly the same as last season.

We DO NOT however have 2 Cup Finals to look forward to this season.

Where is this myth that Kenny improved the team coming from? Rafa in 09/10 finished in 7th on 63 points. Kenny in his full season finished in 8th on 52 points.

We will see at the end of the season where BR finishes but he is currently 13 points away from Kenny's total with 11 games left

But for sure we won't go to any Cup finals (unless you believe we will be in the Europa league final) and therefore win nothing this season as well as not qualify for Champions league.

It's no more important than away form.

I would like to win things in an entertaining way.

I have seen a relative consistency in the results through the season bar the first batch of games but we have been far more dominant in games since Christmas time. We have added a cutting edge to our play that was missing at the start of the season where a number of posters, yourself included, said that we had not improved on last year in terms of scoring.

Results under a new manager are not the be all and end all particularly when we are rebuilding a squad. The performances have been good and that bodes well going forward.

1-5 points 2
6-10 points 9
11-15 points 8
16-20 points 9
21-25 points 8
26-27 points 3

Do you think that Kenny is/was a better manager?

Kenny did very well last year in the cups and it was enjoyable but the league is what should really matter and his end to the season tempered a lot of the joy for me of the cup runs

that's how it stands now so how is dalglish better in the league ????

We went to 2 cup finals winning one + you were not crying on this forum because the manager didn't take the cup games seriously last season. I remember what you did on this forum when we were kicked out of the cups even if you have forgotten.

Neither will Arsene Wenger. Is he a bad manager? Kenny did well to get to 2 cup finals last year but do you think he would have repeated that this year?

His league form as manager was abysmal last season and particularly over the last 13 games. Cups are not an expectation or a guarantee for any manager as they are one off games and teams can be knocked out very easily and so they are hard to judge on. A league is far more consistent to judge because over 38 games, fluke wins and losses should even each other out and you finish generally where you deserve

Not if you change your focus to the Cups from the league, which we did after the Arsenal home game. Would we have been better off to finish 5th in the league with no cups or 8th with a cup? Both would allow us to qualify for Europa league as you know. I would definitely prefer a Cup.

After the clear out that took place over the summer and the shambloic end to the transfer window I dont think anyone truly believed we would compete for the Top 4 places. I think that it was foolish on the part of BR to claim that we could make the Top 4 as he put himself under unnecessary presseure from the start. However many of us thought that we would see a considerable improvement as we went into free fall in the league last season after we lost to Arsenal at home.

This season has been one step forward two steps back and it would be hard to say who is the better manager.

I think both are mediocre and I think the owners took a huge gamble on BR and the jury is still very much out at the moment.

Personally I dont see him leading us back into the Top 4 but that is only my opinion. I also fear, with the owners we have, that we will lose at least one top player in the summer
