As far the the OP's question goes...I'm not a supporter at all. I live in Brighton, never been to Anfield, although I did go to the Charity Shield match where we beat Chelsea 2-1. I don't wear sports clothes so the only piece of LFC merchandise I have is a home shirt with Fowler on the back from 1998. I don't even have Sky Sports so no revenue from me there either. So I don't contribute to the club's business one bit. I am however a die hard fan,I have been for the last 15 years, and I won't let anyone tell me I'm less of a fan for any of the above. This isn't a rant directed at anyone or their views in this thread, just speaking from the side of those who aren't able to contribute to LFC in a financial way on a regular basis. Edit: I did actually buy the Liverpool poster book every issue for about 5 years, so maybe that counts

I don't even understand the logic of comparing one fan to the other, what's the point? so certain people can feel more special than they actually are. God, then they must be having a very miserable life

Liverpool Football Club is going around making Twitter pages for different countries and regions , in different languages to increase their fan base , and there are some people who are saying that the fans who do not live in the city are not true fans , honestly that is very insulting and disgraceful. I think the love for LFC and the love for football is the most important thing , football unites people and does not segregate them by their nationality , race or religion. Exactly, the difference between Everton and Liverpool is the fan base. Even if Everton is having a better season than us, we will be better placed than then even in the short term because we have more resources thanks to the fan base. The global fan base attracts sponsors like Standard Chartered and allows the sale of more merchandise. I don't even understand the logic of comparing one fan to the other, what's the point? I agree that Liverpool are stronger and have more resources than Everton, What I would like to inform you is that if we are still finishing 7th and 8th in the League with the usual no cups in another 5 to 8 years time then Everton will be stronger with more resources than Liverpool because we have no young fans coming through while Everton who are the People's Club do, we carry on the way we are and we are going to be in serious trouble when you have to rely on a fickle global fanbase who are only reliable when your winning trophies...

plus they tend to contrubute a lot less. i know sponsoship is based on a global fanbase but without the stadium and crowd its hard to see where the sponsopship would come from. no offence intended just hard financial facts.

This is why we need to win trophies if we want to sustain a global fan base and keep having enough resources to be a top club in the future.

Yes but they are bigger in numbers and would contribute as much if not more as a group (not individually of course). I would say both are as important, match going fans are the qualifiers and global fans are the differentiators for any football club. If you have any doubts, just ask yourself why would clubs travel miles in the summer breaks to play in the US, Asia, Africa and now Australia. If you want LFC to be a great team, it cannot happen without a global fan base. Just look at Real Madrid, they have more than100 times more fans than the population of Madrid. Now if you want LFC to just be a local team, then probably it would be hard to even stay in the premiership.
