Apparently anyone who watches the games at home on telly is not a real LFC fan or is less of a fan then some of the match going supporters. What are your guys thoughts on the matter? Do you make a distinction between the 2? Do yoe feel someone who watches the game from home, for whatever reason, be it financial, family, work related or pure choice, is less of a fan than the match going fans?

It depends on what you think a supporter is. The club is and always was a commercial business unless you give it your money you are not helping it and hence by definition not supporting it. If no body paid the club would cease to exist.

I don't see how anyone could see it otherwise. But it's also more than money ad viewing angle I have been to many games with Liverpool and is about the travel the drinking in pubs before the flags the being part of a huge swell of people all i
With the same aim.

If you have never witness that then sorry but you really cannot say you are a supporter. Sorry it that sounds harsh. But watching on the tv is not or ever will be anything like attending a real game especially a final or something like that.

I certainly wouldn't judge someone that way. People have quite rightly been banned for comments in the past that suggest the 'better' fan is the one that is fortunate enough to visit the ground regularly.....

Some people put more money into the club via merchandising.
Some people can't afford the ticket prices
Some people can't afford the travel
Some people work inconvenient hours
Some people have more important family commitments
Many fans don't even live in this country
Some people have health issues preventing them from visiting
Some people go to games just to abuse others or to cause trouble
Some people go to the game for the 'prawn sandwiches'

To say that someone is a better fan because they attend a match is ludicrous beyond belief.

I agree that people not attending miss out on a large part of the atmosphere/occassion but you CANNOT say that they aren't proper fans. Supporting the club, how you do it and what you get from it, is subjective.

The club relies so much on support/finance/players/staff from further afield than the immediate vicinty of Liverpool........so whilst you think you're a great supporter I think that the club would be disappointed in your attitude.

To say real or better fan is emotive so let's avoid that. To me it's more missing out. I have always wanted to see the San Siro now I have seen it lots of times on tv but it would be crazy to say I have seen it because I watched. Tv programme with it on. Watching football and following your team is far more than the 90 minutes. Yes you can contribute by buying merchandise (LFC) and buying sky. This is what worries me I can understand the position for those who live outside the uk but even in Liverpool itself there is a generation who have never set foot in anfield yet I am sure they would declare themselves fans. For those fans are missing out on a great experience that my generation have enjoyed. It not the fault of those fans more the cost these days of going to the game.

Is saying your a better fan or come from a better place or city than somebody else just rivalry, like when Liverpool fans say they are a better team, Club e.t.c than another persons team, isn't it just rivalry. Is somebody who is part of the Barmy Army over in Austrailia watching England take on the Aussies and singing songs and bragging that England is so much better than Austrailia is he doing something wrong, what's so wrong with it as long as you don't be nasty with it, isn't football clubs defined from where they come from, last time I looked football clubs are still named after places and areas and we have not reached the stage where clubs are named after businesses like abroad with P.S.V Eindoven or Red Bull Saltzburg...

Why would you have a rivalry with someone who supports the same team you do? It smacks of small man syndrome and to judge yourself as better than someone because of something as petty as that says it all about someone really...

because where u come from plays a massive, massive part in football, you look at when we play United, they sing you scouse b*stard even though none of the team come from Actual Liverpool, nor do nearly all the fans yet the United supporters identify us fans from where the Club is from, this is what I mean by where you live does play a part no matter what people say...
