I think people think we have missed the boat because at the moment we have only one good striker - Torres, who has to carry the goal scoring responsibilities for the team with the exception of a few from Stevie G, Yossi or Kuyt. When he is injured we struggle - fact. He himself has asked for world class companionship to share the duties. At present our back up is Ngog, who quite frankly is sh1te. We need a striker who Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal would fear. KJH is thatlevel of player or potentially could be. You can't argue that we are'nt missing the boat and would have hundreds of players if we took every opportunity, when we have taken none and rely on crappy old Ngog for goals. Your mediocre blind faith is the reason we are strggling for fourth place, not challenging for the title. KJH on loan , Ngog for the bin, ask Torres But I don't think we have missed the boat here. My point is do we want him? Just because us fans might doesn't mean he'd be any goodfor us. Yes we need cover as Ngog is less than convincing but over reacting when we miss out on a player that couldn't cut it at Real or AC isn't the way. He was only ever good at Ajax as was Kuyt at Feyernoord and look what happened there. We just need to relax and see what happens.

Eidur Gudjohnsen
According to The Mirror, Liverpool have failed in their last-ditch bid to snatch Eidur Gudjohnsen from the clutches of West Ham United.
The former Chelsea and Barcelona star is understood to have met with Hammers officials on Friday to discuss the possibility of a loan move from Monaco.
Rafael Benitez then reportedly swooped with the promise of matching whatever West Ham offered in pay and perks, but Gudjohnsen now appears almost certain to seal a switch to Upton Park.
The Icelandic forward-cum-midfielder's close ties with former Blues buddies Gianfranco Zola and Steve Clarke - now manager and assistant as West Ham - are said to have tipped the scales in the London club's favour.
Zola is now expected to drop all interest in Benni McCarthy, after Blackburn Rovers allegedly knocked back a £2 million bid last week.
Meanwhile, Liverpool must continue their search for attacking reinforcements, having also struck out with Sunderland's Kenwyne Jones.

So whats your answer do nothing! yes what a great position that would put us in, how aspirational.
And i realise that on this forum it is popular to slag Kuyt off, but at least he tries not like recent signing Babel. But that is a different story.
The point is i'd rather take a punt on KJH on loan than try nothing or buy Kenwyne Jones in a desperate move for £12m.
The Gudjohnsen story proves my point, we rather arrogantly presume we are a great lure in Europe. It is proving we are not quite the lure we think we are. This will only get worse if we don't finish fourth. In order to finish fourth we need a world class striker to support Torres.

I was impressed again by Darren Beckford yesterday especially that pen right at the end must have been under loads of pressure but he banged it no problem.
