Nope i know he wasn't hasn't been the Gerrard we know and love for the past 3 - 4 seasons imo, but lets not complain about this one man plenty to complain about on the other threads.

cudnt cross a ball to save his life. blasting balls into walls and not beating the 1st man. needs to relise he cant do everything by himself no more

How boring, Do these journalists watch football? Or do they just attend book signings and exchange free tickets for events with footballers? SG was by his own standards unbelievably rubbish for the first 15 games of this season, now he is finding his place and playing some fine fooball but these are the kind of people who rate hodgson as a manager because he is reliable and turns up to press conferences on time. Load of rubbish..

He is leading the league in assists, but he is only recently picking up on form. I'm not sure he likes it. If it's based on his England performances, then fair play. He's been the only consistent star for them since the bloody world cup. He had a pretty good Euros (especially compared to the rest). Last season he played fine, but he was injured most of the time. The beginning of this year he was very much off the pace, but now he's playing pretty well.

I for one have no intention of taking my LFC hat off, there's enough posters on this site only too ready to doff their hats to the top dogs at every opportunity. When one of ours gets a well deserved award I'm only too happy to celebrate it...not try to pick holes in it, some posters need to take a long hard look at themselves, the attitude stinks!

The FWA award is based on his contributions for the 2011/12 season - where he played in less than half of our league games. In other words, the members of the FWA felt that Steven Gerrard was the best person, british or foreign, playing football in England last season.

I think you've misunderstood. I'm not suggesting any kind of hat doffing - by taking your LFC hat off, I mean look at it from a neutral perspective and not one from a heavily biased Liverpool point of view.
If you think Gerrard was the best player in Britian last year then fine.

Personally, I don't think he was even in the top 10. It's called a 'difference of opinion' and theres no need for you to start questioning people's attitudes just because they look at things differently to you.

Well CarheeX, a lot of people who know as much and probably more about football than you or me, and who earn their living from football analysis and commentary, have put their credibility on the line to say he is, and I don't see any compelling reason for LFC fans to disagree with them. There will be enough of that from Man U and others, without us trying to make ourselves sound smarter than we are. You have your opinion of Gerrard and I have mine and I say Gerrard deserves and is fully entitled to the highest award the game has to offer, and long may he continue to do so.

i think he won it thanks to the Euro when he was arguably the best England player. Is the award only for domestic competitions?

This award has always been won on reputation. I don't really rate it. Good for Stevie to win but come on, are you telling me 11/12 was THE season? No way in a million years.
