but stanley does it mean you are good tho, think about it mate, think about the team we won it with, think about how many times we got beat during the Champions League campagn to the likes of Olympiakos, Monaco, Grazer AK, think about the 15 league games we lost that season, think about the Burnley F.A.Cup exit and just remember when we lost away at Southampton in the League to two Peter Crouch goals four months before the Istanbul Final when Alan Hansen turned around and said " This is the worst Liverpool Team in Living memory ".

Look we were all happy to win the Champions League but in the end it did'nt matter, it never meant anything simply because we never built on it, we never used it as a springboard to greater things which it should of been used for, all it is now stanley is a millstone around the clubs neck, its in a dusty old trophy cabinet now where nostolgic kopites can sing songs about it while United, Chelsea and City now walk away with League titles every season.

You'll criticise his tactics for losing us the final but yet fail to credit his tactics for getting us there in the first place. He deserves massive credit for getting us to 2 European Cup finals in 3 years and we were in the semis or quarters almost every other year. He may never have quite reached the top heights in the league but his tactics in Europe were top class and I have many great memories of great wins during those years. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Juventus, AC Milan, we beat them all thanks for his tactics.

Very harsh appraisal there faz - and of course, it's no doubt influenced by your strong dislike of the man. As I said in another thread about someone else - sometimes you have to put your personal feelings aside and give credit where it's due. A level playing field and all that...

You're partly right - some do and some don't - not ALL. By making yourself a polar opposite you're showing that you're no better. Every bit as bad, mate. You can disagree with an opinion without becoming a polarised version.
