stanley ofcorse that team which Benitez inherited was better than the one of today, thing is tho we were the fourth best team in the country, that team of Benitez would of finished fifth if Manchester City were there in those years because although the Liverpool team was one of the better ones it was no way better or stronger than City of now...

He finished 3rd twice and 2nd once ???

Thankfully though we've now made sure we can no longer be classed as best of the rest...

He's the ONLY man who's managed to do that in almost 20 years, since the mid 90s under Evans. Houllier, Hodgson, Dalglish and so far Rodgers (very early days obviously) have all failed to mount a serious title challenge, so to criticise Benitez for "only" managing to do it once in 6 years is an outrageous comment , especially when you consider he won the Champions League, FA Cup, got us to another Champions League Final, a League Cup Final, and got us to the semis or quarters of the CL regularly in the other 5 years. Very short memory, my friend.
roy evans and houllier both had very decent title challenges .

I said since Evans! Houllier never had a serious title challenge. We finished 2nd one season, but we were never in that title race - Arsenal ran away with it, and their closest challengers (Man Ure) fell away at the end of the season and we pipped them to second as a result following a great finish to the season. Finishing 2nd doesn't necessarily mean we were in the title race.
