I did at the time, but that's what the manager said. The photo on lfctv looks pretty bad, actually.

Great news! That means as soon as BR might decide to start playing him, Assaidi is off to Africa for a month or so! How many games have our new recruits gotten so far? Assaidi, Borini and Sahin? What a waste and shame that we don't even try them out properly (apart from the wounded Borini that is)! To be fair to BR both Assaidi and Sahin didn't cost us much (combined) so I would think he took a chance with them, if it works good, if it doesn't well we haven't lost too much. He sees them regularly in training so he should know better than anybody here, what they can bring to the team. My issue with BR in the last transfer window was that he didn't prioritize the signing of a top striker, this is what we needed more than anything else.

Assaisi didnt cost much he was like what <£3million... At least we get to keep him. And to be fair the first month he was fasting by then other players had settled into the team.
But Sahin has been a total disaster and a complete waste of money. £5 million to loan a player for 9 months. That's a total joke!
We have paid £2.5 million for what do far? Nothing except for a player who's a lightweight and can't cut it in the premier league. Hasn't had a decent performance since he was playing in the German league 2 years ago!
The Sahin loan deal is and has been horrendous. Just when we've been trying to show we're not mugs when it comes to transfers we blow over £100k a week on a loan deal for a player who has done NOTHING!

He's scored a couple goals (when Lucas was in the team). Relax. I think Sahin has talent and will do well for us, especially in Europe. With Lucas back, he'll be a different player, mark my words. And 5 million isn't exactly a huge loss if he isn't.

All three of his goals were against PL sides, mind you. He loked quality in those games, but like Allen he needs a proper holding mid to back him up. With space to show off his vision and passing, he'll be fine.

Agree with part of what youre saying about Sahin. Whilst it hasnt been a total disaster, I must admit I was expecting alot more from this lad. All I've seen so far is a player that sometimes has a decent game.... most times has a poor game... and all of the time looks extremely slow and sluggish.

I think we're so used to doing catastrophical deals that we don't even mind outlays of £ 5 M anymore. We just think it's not that much money, so who cares.
To put things into perspective let's compare to the biggest Swansea deals of last summer:
Ins: Pablo Hernandez from Valencia: £ 5.6 M Ki from Celtic: £ 5.6 M Michu from Rayo Vallecano: £ 1.8 M Chico from Genoa: £ 2 M
Outs: Gylfi Sigurdsson to Tottenham: £ 7 M Joe Allen to Liverpool: £ 15.3 M Scott Sinclair to Man City: £ 6.3 M
These examples don't take wages into perspective, which probably would make our deals look even more fûcked.

By the way: Here are our dealings:
Ins: Joe Allen from Swansea: £ 15.3 M Fabio Borini from Roma: £ 10.7 M Ossama Assaidi from Heerenveen: £ 3 M Nuri Sahin from Real Madrid on loan: Loan fee £ 5 M
Outs: Maxi to Newell's Old Boys: £ 0 Dirk Kuyt to Fenerbahce: £ 0.97 M Charlie Adam to Stoke: £ 4 M Alberto Aquilani to Fiorentina: £ 3.2 M Craig Bellamy to Cardiff: £ 0 Andy Carroll to West Ham on loan: £ 0 Jay Spearing to Bolton on loan: £ 0
