Agreed. Lately he hasn't been great the only reason he's still in the team is because were so so thin. He hasn't really got a bag of tricks or a good final ball or decent touch, he's all about pace really. I can only see him being a top player for us I think if he leaves he'll ruin himself over his big ego. That said whatever happens, happens. Hope we dont lose him though but just cant see him wanting to stay.

Yeah, he's quick and tricky with the ball at his feet but often loses possession in the wrong areas, makes bad choices regarding positioning and passes. Maybe this is because he's still very young and he will grow out of it - or maybe he has already peaked and doesn't have the "game understanding" needed to become a real great player.
At best he's a raw diamond, but he needs severe polishing yet!

All true about sterling guys. But he does have a great deal of potential. And we aren't the club we once were, saying 'fu!k him let him go' is not something we can do any more. We either need big money for players, or to keep players that could kick on.

Yes I know but we cant get big money for him as his contract is up and the most compensation we'll get for a free transfer is 5 or 6 million if he wants to leave he has us by the nuts.

He does, but part of that is Rodgers making ridiculously stupid comments like he'd be 'foolish' not to sign. Just give the lad the 50k contract. He plays more than downing who gets more than that. Shouldn't have made a circus about it.
All of this could be redundant as he is too young to sign his second professional contract. Come his birthday hopefully they sort something out.

Yes hopefully they will, if he gets 50k though imo opinion he's gonna turn worse than Walcott, Lennon, Ox etc. Maybe the next Jenas if were foolish enough to give him 50k at 18. Just my opinion.

The kid has been ill advised here by his agents. He had this chance when we were thin and he seized it but he has got a long way to go to convince people he is a first teamer and will signficantly contribute to LFC over a sustained period of time.
What he needs is playing time and at such a young age he has got that and should be thankful. a 10-20k a week pay hike is more than enough for a 17 year old to fund his playstations and bicycles. money should not be a concern at this stage in this career. playing time and learning his trade should be. like i said, ill advised
and he aint no Messi. Messi, Rooney, Ronaldo were something special too at 17. He has a bit of their spark but he is far far away from being a world beater. He has pace at this stage, final ball and awareness will come in time.
BR could have handled his comments better which probably angered the kid and his agents but we in times of austerity and we only pay for those that we know can really contribute. At the same time we are getting rid of the deadwood like Cole, downing, Carroll et all who are on high wages but doing zilch.

swap sterling with walcott or sturridge....end of.
sterling is another player with loads of potential, only thing he will fill will b his bank account, instead of his potential.
if i had the choice of playing one of the above players in the starting 11 for LFC now.. it wud be..
walcott, sturridge sterling.

BR needs a striker and he is willing to(so rumour has it) sign sturridge for 12m. if not then walcott for 8/10m (can play as a winger/striker)
if sterling worth as much as them..o hell no.
is he better than them 2...hell no.
save the 8/12m put aside for signing of one of the above players and us it on another player to improve the starting 11
