this is an area we need to strengthen in the summer.

There are 2 players that i have no idea why they dont make the starting line up.

Everyone says Sahin as been poor but i cant see this at all, he has same goals as stevie Stevie, he had better games than shelvey then BR keeps rotating and using henderson over him which i find ridiculous how many times have we've seen henderson missing clear cut shots misplacing passes, and coming off the bench, atleast Sahin as the quality to be a game changer.

The next player is asaidi, we are short one out and out winger to be a threat, i will say this that he didnt perform in his last appearance but he has been superb in europa and we lack the pace on the wing even in the event we make changes he rather downing.

I personally believe these team selections are based on money, most players have in their contracts if they play a certain amount of games then the price increases.

January sales are maybe the reason why these players are getting a game now and again.

To be fair I was referring to Sahin's displays so far, which have been as a DM. He has not got himself stuck in properly but looked generally soft, not offering any protection for the back 4 whatsoever.

On the ball there's a complete different story though. With Lucas back I can see him offering something to the team - as an attacking mid!

For the next game against West Ham we will need to pull something unusual out of the hat though - a striker that can fill in for Suarez! I don't know who that might be, because serioulsy we don't have any on our books. Not Yesil and Morgan (yet), and definitely not Borini - injured or not. This IMO opens up the way for Assaidi to get a full game on his preferred left flank!

Could that be our starting line up next weekend?

Lucas certainly improves our shape. But to OP, Gerrard was a bit better, and Allen was very very very average.

With Gerrard knowing the back will be sorted, he will be foraging forward more often and that is when he does the damage.

This will take a couple of weeks but come Jan we should be really smacking a few teams proper.

Just read this:

On his return, Lucas made more forward passes (45) in a PL game than any player has this season.

Lucas also made the most tackles in the Premier League the weekend too.

He is the Anchor which we have been missing, The shape looks so much more even and fluid now.

Let's hope the boys kick on from here and force FSG's hand into making an actual investment in the playing staff come Jan.
