"Reports in Dutch and English media indicate that Liverpool are taking keen interest in signing PSV Eindhoven winger, Dries Mertens, in the upcoming winter transfer market.
A source close to the 25-year-old was quoted as saying to goal.com:
“Liverpool first wanted Mertens when Kenny Dalglish was manager but they are still making their interest well known. He would obviously love to play for such a prestigious club in English football but right now he can only focus on producing strong performances for PSV”.
The Belgian international has an ongoing contract at PSV that runs until the summer of 2016. Although, the Boeren have made it clear that they will not let go of their prized asset in the near future, an offer in the region of 12 million Euros could tempt the club management to cash in on their star player."
