Torres. The others haven't been prolific in the premier league and would be a bi tof a gamble that we're not in a position to make. But by that rule surely your still taking a gamble on Torres who hasnt been prolific for 2/3/4 years now? and there is no guarantee he will ever be again as hes only getting older and slower.

Why do people keep mentioning Huntelaar when everyone knows its against FSG buying policy as he is 29, even the Echo reported then other week that the Club dismissed it, so theres no point bringing him up. FSG want to buy young players so they can sell them on for a profit and 29 year olds have no resale value, say they bought him for 6, kept him for 2 or 3 seasons he would only have another year or two in the game and would be sold for about 2 million if that, theres no profit at all and it would cost us money. I dont want Torres because he's finished and am not keen on Walcott because he seems mercenery demanding 100k at Arsenal when he has done nothing in the game to warrant this, also i really dont think Clubs who dont play Champions League football can afford to pay players that sort of cash as its spending beyond our means, that how clubs get into trouble with debt.

No Joe if we got Huntelaar for 6 million and did eventually sell him for the fee u mentioned (2 million) that would be a loss of just 4 million, but his goals may get us 2 or 3 places up the league which in 2 seasons gets back a few quid. Not much of a loss and a no brainer in my opinion. When the press asked Brendan about it he didn't confirm or deny anything.

When the press asked Brendan about it he didn't confirm or deny anything. so Huntelaar's goals might move us up a couple of places from about 8th or 9th up to 6th or 7th, big deal, what happens then, all we do is qualify for the Europa League at most where Rogers plays his weakest team in order to get bounced out as quickly as possible, we get about 2 million of some mediocre dutch Club when we do get shut after two years when he is too old. I just dont see the sense in signing a player that old myself and neither by the looks do FSG which is the most important thing.

i chose walcott, purely because i think he's the most likely to sign for us.
i'd imagine him to occupy the right wing and give make us more threatening on the attack. he could fill in at striker if need be. especially if our finances are going to be tight. you get what you pay for with strikers (unless you're kenny daglish) so i'd rather us wait until the summer, allow borini a chance to find some form then assess the situation again before the season starts next term with more financial clout.
would love to see hunterlaar but there will be a lot of interest in him. where would it leave suarez in our side if we did get him? would he be shifted out wide or in the hole? BR is extremely unlikely to field 2 strikers. also being older and after the clint dempsey "Hoo-Harr" would the owners be game to sign him?
torres has been misfiring for nearly 3 years now. so for a team that struggles to take their chances then signing an out of form 29 year old expensive striker must be the least of our priorities

Its not about profit. Its about total asset value (squad). e.g.
Sign a play for £10m on a 5 year contract 76k a week. Transfer = £30 million.
Each year the contract value is reduced by £6m
Year0 = £30m Year1 = £24m (value = £8 million) Year2 = £18m (value = £6 million) Year3 = £12m (value = £4 million) Year4 = £6m (value = £2 million) Year5 = £~m (value = £0 million)
If the signing was 28 he would be 33 and worth nothing If the signing was 22 he would be 27 and any sell on value would make the team stronger.
In other words you can spend less money and have a better valued squad. iirc Tomkins did a great blog on this but I can find it for reference.
Out of the three, only Walcott makes sense. I agree with the previous post.

Walcott for me is too inconsistent, Torres is truffling to score but has improved and I wouldn't be too upset if he came back at the price but Huntelaar for me. Even though not proven in the prem I believe he wouldn't take long to do so and has a great record!

If Torres cant score with Mata, Oscar and Hazzard spoon feeding him how many goals is the feller gonna score with being fed from an over the hill Gerrard, woefuly out of his depth Sahin and a limited Joe Allen who plays the same game as Ray Wilkins did 30 odd years ago.
