I haven't seen any sane people saying that 4th is possible or even expected. If you're replacing a manager that got sacked because of his league position then surely the target/expectation is to improve on what cost your predecessor his job, isn't it? I see this on here all the time mate and people 'expecting' us to win the Europa League, I mean WTF seriously!

Best to enjoy him while he is here, cant see him being here past the summer myself, the lure of Champions League and playing for one of the big Clubs I think will be too much. If and when it does happen you cant really blame him, although I dont like the feller I know he's a player too good for us and that we would never be able to provide him with the platform to match his ambition, nobody should blame Torres either, still dont understand why he gets stick... So are you happy or not to have him here? I'm astonished that he got the job considering the names we were linked with - some very well respected names at that. Were FSG going for the cheapest option and getting themselves a 'yes' man? I believe so. I was referring to Suarez but I don't think they were necessarily going for the cheapest option. That would have been to let Dalglish keep his job. Did we not pay Swansea a sizeable sum to make him our manager? There would have been cheaper options than that like van gaal for instance. BR might have been the only one willing to take the job with the restrictions that FSG appear to have imposed and the lack of widely available funds that are needed to quickly get the club competitive again
he was'nt sacked because of his league position, that was just the reason they used, he was sacked because of a snidey, little cheat who plays for us and a certain racial incident which Dalglish stupidly backed publicaly which exposed the club to shame worldwide, standard charter stepped in and the rest as they say is history, the position of the table did'nt help but that was'nt the reason for me...
The pure bitterness in your posts never ceases to amaze me. Yes, I can imagine that's why they sacked the manager, because he supported one of his players. He should have ran him out the club, destroyed his career and shattered his family.
Rodgers needs 2 years and some financial backing. He shouldn't be sacked if we finish below 8th, but I would expect him to at least equal it if he's the man to take us forward.
To be fair, he's lost 3 senior players in Maxi, Kuyt and Bellamy, and the bulk of the previous seasons transfer budget was spend of 3 players who barely come on as a sub in Carrol, Henderson and Downing. These were bought as world-beating first teamers so no wonder the squad is so thin. Add that to Lucas and Borini's injuries.

The apparent ignorance of some people on here is absolutely bemusing at times!
I can't tolerate people who's attitudes are 'We're Liverpool FC, we expect top 4 each and every season at least!' - this is just ludicrous, get some bloody perspective and come back to reality.
Look at the situation we're currently in, Liverpool have been in transition for arguably 3 or 4 seasons now and there's been absolutely no continuity or stability.
Currently we've only one striker (this is not Rodgers' fault, there's no way he would have let Andy Carrol leave without assurances that replacements would be brought in - why would he, to make his job more difficult?!) and without goal contribution from other players, we can't take any games as a given 3 points and therefor we can't expect to be too far up the league table come the end of the season.
When Rodgers came to Liverpool, the squad was made up (and still is for the most part) of players like Spearing, Adam, Cole, Downing and Henderson, not exactly a squad overflowing with quality in depth is it? That in mind, Rodgers has had to change the formation of the team and bring in youth players throughout the first eleven at times and as we all know 'you won't win anything with kids' - the team needs time to adjust to the new system, the younger lads need time to settle into playing at premier league standard, none of them have been promoted to the first team because they're ready to play at this standard so they need time and we need to strengthen (especially in attacking options) in January before we consider anything better than an improvement on last season.
Those players were good enough get us an 8th place finish. If they're that bad then it should be easy for BR to replace them and finish higher up. I haven't seen any sane people saying that 4th is possible or even expected. So why was Roy sacked then? Regarding Suarez, i don't think he is a racist and that's the main thing. he brought shame on the Club throughout the world wether he is a racist or not all because of his own stupidity and when you are world wide franchise which the Club is actively persuing then reputation is everything...

Fvck it - why not give him 10 years before making a judgement call and see if he can be the first LFC manager to win the FA Vase!?

Sacking managers after one season or even half has hardly worked for us, has it? We need a long term plan (and I feel we currently have one) and see the thing out for once.

Sacking managers regularly is no less successful than keeping them for long periods. It's the quality of the manager that determines our success. Some would rather we stuck with a manager, even if he's out of his depth, than be seen as a club that sacks people not up to the job. I can't work out why though. Once we get a GOOD manager, then we should stick by him. Sticking by someone like rodgers won't turn him into bob paisley.
