its only two days away so its only right we have a thread on it. we have a small matter of a derby on sunday so heres my team
.......................Jones
McLaughlin......Carragher..........Coates........ jose
.....................Henderson
.......Teixeira ..................Sahin
...Suso................Yesil............Assaidi
if teixera isnt fit then j messi cole. am playing sahin in this game because on sunday i will play jonjo. the games going to be hard and jonjo isnt scared of getting stuck in That's a decent team. Where have you pulled Teixeira from? I haven#t previously seen him mentioned near the first team? Not sure he's ready for that jump. I'd start Shelvey there in his place. Right back will be a very interesting one. Johnson and Wisdom seem to be the favoured FBs at the moment, which means they'll be needed for all the league games, so this game would be a good chance to give them a rest and give other players a chance. From what I've seen so far since BR came in, I don't think he fancies Flanagan. I think he's a bit too much of an old school style player (despite his young age), so it'd be interesting to see if McLaughlin does get a look in. I'd love to see Yesil get a game. Or even Morgan, but I'd prefer Yesil. If anyone is in need of rest at this stage of the season then they should seriously start looking for another job. While I'm inclined to agree with that, you know as well as I do, the modern world of football we live in. Players playing 2 matches in a week is asking a bit much. In their defence, I think a lot of people think of it as "it's only 2 weeks in a match - I could do that!!". They also train pretty much every day and spend a lot of time in the gym too. Doing that constantly week in week out for 9 months solid (or 12 months if you're Luis Suarez) will take it's toll physically. 'Resting' players at this early stage of a season would surely be more of a preventative measure than them actually needing a rest now. But as I say, that's 'in their defence'. I think that a lot of the time manager's saying they're 'resting' players is a good excuse for giving fringe/young players a run-out in games with lesser stakes (I'm gonna get murdered for that last part).

Granted, there is training to take into consideration but even still, they have an incredibly easy life. I don't think 2 x 90 minute games a week and a few training sessions would knacker ME out let alone a professional footballer.

I'd go for:
------------- Jones ------------- Flanagan Carragher Coates Enrique ------ Henderson - Shelvey ------ Downing ----- Cole ------ Assiadi ------------- Yesil -------------
Enrique needs to regain match fitness so I would play him but could also see and would be happy with Robinson playing instead. If Cole isn't fit I'd play Pacheco. I agree with Heggy about Shelvey - I think he's improved a lot this season but if Fellani doesn't play Evertons midfield isn't quite so physically imposing and regardless there's a higher risk of Shelvey getting sent off in a Derby game so I'd play him on Thursday. Not sure how this game is going to pan out - Anzhi have some good players like Samuel Eto'o, Yuri Zhirkov, Lassana Diarra, Christopher Samba, Lacina Traore and Jucilei, certainly not looking forward to the away leg. This guy. +1.

Anzhi actually aint all that good, and i think they've only got like 4000 fans. I watched them a few times on ESPN last season and their stadium was empty most weeks. That said Zhirkov, Traore, Eto and Bousaffa (If still there) are all dangerous players. We should beat them though. Jones, Flanagan(if back fit)Skrtel, Coates, Enrique, Henderson, Cole, Shelvey, Downing, Yesil, Suso. Dont play Carra as Eto's pace alone will end his career lol.

Will be a difficult game for us to win because Anzhi are in some solid form and have some pretty decent players. Would love us to hold out for a 1-0 victory but think we may end up 1-1!
I woudl take any win though because it will put us in a better position to qualify for the next stage.
