There could also be other explanations for this stat. And i think it would be even more distorted if you looked at europa and cup games too. Suarez starts the big games but not the early stages of europa cup or early stages of league cup games which liverpool would have done better in (certainly in the league cup cos we won it) ,. Liverpool not being exactly firing on all cyllinders the last 2 years have more often than non struggled against the top teams.Suarez would be in the team sheet for the big games. Is it his fault if the whole team didnt overcome big oppostion?
I suppose that wouldnt be enough games to explain the stat but then you have to look at what system were liverpool playing when suarez started matches. I think last year it was 442 with andy carroll. This partnership was not effective and maybe liverpool played better when suarez came on as a sub (dunno how many times that occured). If he came on as sub I imagine it would be to replace another striker (Carrol) So maybe he plays better as lone striker.
Then there was the period when he was banned and liverpool didn't actually do bad. But this suggests to me there was a problem with the carrol partnership and this problem was in some way resolved by the absence of one or the other (in this case suarez being absent)
would like to see this stat at the end of this season , especially if a top striker is not bought in january, think the stats will change somewhat personally.
Also, does the 2nd stat include games when he came on as sub? or is it games when he didnt play at all..
