Anyone else find newcastles deal for pardew as ridiculous. eight year deal!! ok he has done well but he has had very low expectations so far. that club is notorious for turning turk on managers so it will be interesting when the going gets tough up there.

In general are contracts for managers even worth the paper they are written on anyway. was listening to simon jordon on sky last.night and he has some interesting views on managers contracts.

Am sure pardew is on a stupid salary already loaded with bonuses anyway. another thing is just how crazy salaries are did anyone see brendans mansion on channel five last week - considering the fact he hasnt really managed a massive club before us hes already set for life judging by that house.

I don't see any point in giving him an 8 year deal - it's not as if clubs are trying to prise him away. If he's doing well he'll be happy and want to stay. If he's doing badly it will cost them a fortune to get rid of him. And from what I can see, it's their head scout that's making the biggest difference - and he's just signed a big long term contract as well......Alan Carr's dad I believe!!

they're planning for the future in the most dramatic way i've ever seen. they're obviously thinking all the big clubs are looking at pardew and carr. and i don't think they are. defo not looking at pardew, maybe carr. newcastle will regret this by the end of next season. theres only 1 or 2 managers who are good enough for an 8 year deal and pardew ins't in that league.

I can see its Good thinking for the owner to have this contract in place when Roy fails and England come knocking?.

I think this is a stupid idea on Newcastles part. If it all goes tits up in a year or 2 with an 8 year deal imagine the compensation they'd have to pay to get rid of him? Stupidity

ashley isn t as stupid as he seems. am sure there is a clause in there about how much money pardrew would get if he was to get the chop.

I think this is a cheeky bit of business by Ashley as he knows Pardew is hot property at the moment and if a club comes in, they have to pay millions for a compensation package to Newcastle. Its a big risk as it can backfire.
