I think we are all decent as are 99% of fans. But it only needs a small number of individuals to start these things off. The other side retaliates and off it goes. And there always will be bad people and or idiots and they never go away fully unfortunately. I would like to see more people targeted and thrown out of grounds and banned for life if found guilty. They have CCTV and can spot who start chants crowd chants don't start at random they are started by individuals people making aeroplane signs should be easy to spot. I see this on the same level as racist chants in fact in my book its worse.

Stanley - the media do a complete mis-service by always trying to neutralise and equalise things. It's politic to do so and I understand the intention... but it's not truthful and actually makes things worse. But for one or two fans Liverpool were well behaved and did not retaliate to the taunts. The entire away crowd sang 2-3 absolutely disgusting songs after the game. These things are not equal - for them to do this on that day was unconcionable. I know it's trendy to say "we're all just as bad" but it's neither truthful or helpful! So what would you rather we did now ? give these mancs some munich songs back at OT? kick a few heads in? I presume not so what then? we have had vengance and taunts for 20 years do you not think there is a better way?

Like it or not, there will always be cretins in society, and there will always be cretins in football. You and I can do our part not to add fuel to the fire but we're not really the problem. To think that the Hillsborough/Munich chanting is just going to stop is pretty naive. I think Sunday was our best chance to do away with all that nonsense, but right from the off you could tell that things weren't quite right.
The presentations were nice and all but that's frankly the least I would expect from the club. Almost immediately after, you had their fans chanting and booing during YNWA. Now, I don't expect them to join in but surely they could have kept their gobs shut just that one time?
Then things during the game were going alright until Halsey got involved. Prior to the red, it was simply a case of one team being a lot better than the other. Tough to stomach for United fans, sure, but they weren't particularly riled up over it. Then the red came, and things immediately got heated. Our fans were (rightly) aggrieved that Shelvey had wrongly been sent off, and the whole atmosphere got a bit ugly, and that was reflected on the players as well.
The game ends and you have one side absolutely furious that they have been victims of refereeing injustice, while the other side is absolutely pinching themselves that they got away with murder. So it's really no surprise at all that United fans would be goading the already-angry Liverpool fans into venting their frustrations by bringing up Munich.

I think there is a lot of truth in what you say. It was not right from the off the clubs did all they could but the fans (or a small element of them of both clubs) did not play their part. Utd fans could have simply been silent at the YNWA at the begining I thought they let their club down. But so did some of our fans I believe the disruption was organised and not a random event.

Disgraceful and on a day when everyone should have come together as one in the face of the injustice that was Hillsborough. I cannot even to begin to understand the personality and character of such offensive individuals.
I am only responsible for what I write. Not for what you understand.
