its not hype KP. the excuse is nonsense fro either party. firstly in relation to BR, west brom had new manager and mediocre players. he outwitted us with a wave of a hand. we dont look any different to last season. it was an appalling thing to happen and yet he is suggesting it will happen again?
as for the owners, it infuriates me when i look at how quickly city turned it round. right manager, right players, job done. we piiss money away, we make excuses, we get nowhere and now we are supposed to be patient?
anyway, we have no choice but to be patient. we're potentially fuucked. Cum on it took City almost 5 years to get where they r today. Good experience manager limitless funds, and they can buy whoever they choose to.

I think most of us forgotten that we are beaten by WBA. I can understand and accept if it is Man U, Chelsea or Man City. We are always giving excuses for our failure. Mind all if we can improve down the road so will others...

All this is too early but I guess we have to talk about something. If we beat city I expect to see can we win the title threads popping up. We cannot make even a basic judgement of Rodgers until Oct ish. Exactly. +1. A lot of seriously embarrassing comments being thrown about, tbf.

If we take out the money we got for players that were sold, not to mention the wage savings, the actual new spend on rebuilding a squad that was in need of a total overall is somewhere around 70m. In today's market that will buy you 1.5 - 2 top 4 quality players, nowhere near enough to cover a major rebuild. Man City have spent close on 300m and only won the Pl on goal difference, that's what it costs to do the kind of rebuild we are faced with in today's football market. Now if FSG don't have or are not prepared to put that kind of money on the table, they are in the wrong business and should get off the pitch before they do a Hicks and Gillett on us. We must compete in the transfer market for top 4 quality players if we want to be a top 4 level club, failure to do so will see us slip further down the pecking order and at the moment that is exactly what is happening. Regardless of whether we beat City, Arsenal and United in the next couple of weeks the slide is inevitable if we don't compete in the transfer market and we are not doing that.

Agree with you Annefield, however, it looks like our owners have a commpletely different plan by doing things differently like playing a "different football" and use stats extensively. They are taking a big gamble according to me or waiting for European fair play rules. Unfortunately, I can't see things changing soon. We'll see

That's like writing something off on a possibility. Just because there's a possibility that you can say "I told ya so" if it actually happens, doesn't mean it's going to. There are 2 things you can bet on - 1. The people who are moaning already WILL say "I told ya so" if it goes bad, and 2. Those same people won't make a peep if it actually works out. The team needs supporters not dissenters. We've had 3 competitive games under BR. 2 wins and a defeat. The team need to respond with another win against Hearts. If they can do that, then the confidence will be restored for the City game.

firstly bar, i have never, and will never say i told you so, about anything. thats for morons. i criticised lucas back in the day based on his performances and have always held my hand up that i was one of those people so dont throw me in the bargain bin with the crazies. if things go right then super stuff, ill stand by what i said but im not going to ignore my gut concern on these matters.
im all for positivity but when it stifles debate then we have a problem on here. you cant criticise me for being negative about a shiite performance and say i should be positive because we put away a minnow team in the europa league. im basing my opinion on the facts of what i have seen so far and i cant see anything wrong with doing that. its not dissent.

I wasn't pigeon-holing you with some of the other more negative posters on here, flames, I was just speaking in a general sense of the mood that seems to be around the forum at the moment. Criticism of the WBA game is fair and it's actually warranted, but what I'm saying is that people are going to far, and throwing logic out the window by going OTT based one ONE performance. Not 9 or 10, but ONE. That to me is outrageous!
I never got carried away after the wins against Gomel and Bayer Leverkusen, but you know what, the people who are saying our season is all but over now, are probably the people that did get carried away after those wins. They build their hopes up in their minds, so the defeat to West Brom just meant they fell even further. That's just my theory.
Also, you've never been what I'd class a 'negative poster' at all. I'm actually pretty surprised at how hard you've taken to the defeat. I think there's a lot of positivity surrounding the club at the moment, and no matter when, or the circumstances, 90 minutes of football by itself could never cause a 180 to that. I say 90 minutes, we actually played well until they scored their first - and that goal was unstoppable. The sending off and first peno came from them picking us off on the counter when we were chasing the equaliser. The 2nd penalty (/2nd goal) was clumsy from an individual (Skrtel) and was given away to a player who was actually moving away from goal. After the 2nd goal went in, the heads went completely down.
The 2 problems I got from that game were that there was the same old problem that plagued us last season - too many missed chances, and also the way the heads went down once the game went 2-0. I'd expect a bit more character than that. I still think it's too early to make judgements. One game, it's lunacy.

youre analysis of the game is pretty much spot on. but this bad luck of penalties and sending offs (last season it was crossbars) happens when you dont take the gam by the scruff of the neck. we are passing the ball around with no purpose and eventually the game plays us. we never seem to really control game with any grit. its always a bit flimsy and susceptible to counter attacks, penalties etc. then we spend the rest of the game moping around the pitch with woe is me expressions.
i know its BR's first PL game, but i cant seperate the performance from last year, plus he is not a new manager to the PL. its very very disappointing. im getting tired of waiting, tired of excuses, and this "it'll take time and hidings" thing is like a death sentence.
which is why i recently questioned if we had the right owners after all.
