The executive committee has agreed that a player who appears for a club in any of the preliminary rounds of the Champions League or Europa League can play for another team in the competition proper, so long as his original team is eliminated in the preliminary competition.
"The rules have been relaxed regarding what the English call 'cup-tied' players, that is players who have already played for one team in a competition in a season," said UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino.
"From next season, if a player's club is eliminated and he signs for a new club by the end of the summer transfer window on September 1 he can play for his new club in either competition. as far as i see this rule means he is not club if liverpool get knocked out he is not cup tied if liverpool stay in he is cup tied so its good for liverpool .

think ur wrong.think he can play in CL for anyone. he would be cup tied in europa league only.

Do you also have info on how a player can be cup tied for e.g. fa cup, I never really took notice of it.

i weant him to be cup tied so he might stay from what i read into iot liverpool need to be knocked out for the cup tied situation to be lifted from what it read .

You're right Faz, they've just said on ESPN, Agger wouldn't be able to play until january if we progress. thats the way i seen it either he is staying or his price has just gone down , i hope he stays .

Good game,easy on the eye,bit of work needed on the defensive possession side of things although,would be perfect game now for young lads.

This is right meaning Agger can only play for City in the CL once we are knocked out. As long as we are still in he cannot play.

Well done, team Agger!
Looked much more confident, played them off the park, SG looks so much better when he roams around the final third than our defensive third. Good game by Lucas, Suarez dangerous as ever. Nice win to boost morale ahead of the trip to WBA.
