it is terrible what's happened to rangers. but the thing i still can't get over is the way craig white brought the club, he brought the club with money the club would earn in the future, what?! the most ridiculous take over bid ever and it worked. hopefully the situations rangers and portsmouth find themselves in will make buying football clubs harder for these idiots who clearly haven't the capital to run the club. and yet as i understand it the 'fit and proper' test the governing bodies have put in place don't stop leverage buy-outs. which is shocking. hopefully they come back again. Well Hicks and Gillett didn't buy Liverpool with their own money, they used the club's money to pay off the loan. Same with Man United, it's nothing new. leverage buy-outs should only be allowed if a company is on it's arse. not when the company is a profitable business. and only if the debt being placed on the company is manageable. leverage buy-outs in football are becoming less and less viable and yet there is nothing in place to stop them happening. more clubs will end up like rangers if the powers that be don't make some changes.

I used to support Celtic but stopped due to my distaste for the sectarian issue between a number of Scottish clubs supporters, though I always felt most of it emanated from the Rangers supporters in relation to Celtic. It would be great if something could be done to reduce or eliminate this ugly scar from the game up there. As for the current debacle for Rangers, I see it as a disaster for all Scottish clubs and Scottish football with a great tradition in football terms.

no it is not time!!
I really do not want to see those 2 teams rangers or celtic in the EPL , firstly its not called english for nothing,
secondly (i hate the style of football played in SPL, ok it might 'improve' if they had similar resources to english clubs' but their addition would mean a british league and a british team in a world cup which i could never ever get used to
3rd , what happens to the teams that are not the big 2 they will go out of existence.
4thly both of them can sort out there alleged secterian/ political /national 'problems' before cominng anywhere near english football

I posted about this kind of thing a while back. The football authorities should not be relegating teams based on them having financial problems, it exacerbates the problem. The fact that they can't pay their players, means the players will leave, and so they will already be punished enough. You don't need to kick them while they're down. Both Rangers have the Scottish FA have made this mess, and the whole of Scottish football is going to suffer.
When will we get an FA that actually has a brain? the FA don't, the SFA don't, UEFA and FIFA don't seem any better either. A multi-billion dollar industry run by fools.
Well done Ally McCoist too.
I think the Englisg FA should ask Rangers to join the Championship along with Celtic. It's time. Yeah, a "multi-billion industry run by fools" Well put Rafa, I understand where you're coming from about Celtic and Rangers joining the PL, but wouldn't that seal the demise of scottish football altogether? What kind of a league would it be and what kind of financing would there be? Not too sure about that one.

Don't agree, the main reason we havent had a british team for so long is the clubs in England dont want it because it will mean less teams from the british isles in the champions league/ eufa cup europa cup etc. Celtic would never again get in europe. Rangers well looks like they are becoming a pub team with this fiasco.
And i would n't like to be a scot living in kilmarnock knowing that the big tie of the entire season is when partick thistle nil come to town!
All in all i think its a tenuous link between rangers facking up their resources and them joining the EPL. Would the EPL bigwigs want them? They wanted rid of portsmouth by all accounts
The scottish league isnt dead in my view but celtic and rangers both going to england would kill it off.

Just a thought if Celtic and rangers were in the prem would not the money they earn trickle down to the rest of scotish football transfer fees etc and television rights / sponsorship. It has always seemed a strange set up there for me rangers / celtic and then the rest.

I'm Irish and I have no time for either of them, football is about football it should not involve sectarianism or religion in any form.
