Gutted for England, to be honest. I didn't think they'd go all the way but I fancied them to win 1-0 tonight and make it to the semis. They were beaten by the better team on the day, albeit narrowly. I don't know why there always has to be scapegoats, and blame thrown on someone. They weren't good enough, it's just as simple as that.

I'd agree with that assessment. No blame on any of the penalty takers, the team was probably lucky enough to get as far, mostly due to a good compact defence but the ability to hold onto possession and string passes together was very poor and in extra time it was just wave after wave of Italian attacks
