Obviously they are fans of Roy keane and that's fair enough but it is not the common consensus but don't come on here talking for Irish people and stating things as fact when they blatantly arent do what i like and i believe roy keane is one of the greatest players to play for and come out of ireland and you should be proud of him for his massive achivements .

Never said he wasn't one of the best players we've ever had but his behaviour as an Irish player and subsequently will never make him a legend in mine or a large proportion of Irish people's eyes

He probably is a legend,doesn't stop him being a dick though, Robbie Keane, Liam Brady, Paul McGrath, John Giles, Packie Bonner, far bigger legends in my eyes.

It's been very apparent from the start that you don't understand that. In my eyes Owen is not a legend but I appreciate what he did while he was here. However I do not know if this is a common consensus and won't state my opinion as fact. There are very subtle differences which you don't understand between knowing a player is a very good player but not a legend because of their behaviour which has tainted all they have done before that. Keane might have been a major part in getting us to the WC but he then walked out on his country and has held a grudge against the Irish players involved in that team ever since

About 20 pages about Keane and slagging off the Irish. Surely this thread is close to being locked (I hope...) i think there been more stick to the english than to the irish team doesnt the thread say english arrogance not irish or any other ?

Set up by an english poster where most people initially disagreed saying they're not anymore as they don't expect to win things as they did before and then 18 pages about Ireland and keane as started by ianrush no the stick given to roy keane was because he told the truth ireland were bad , and i said he is one of the greats if not the greatest irish player of all time but because he had a fight with the FAI in 2002 he isnt liked , when even though he played for united he was one if not the best irish player .
