I don't think he said he hates him but he is not respected by irish people similar to how Michael owen is viewed by Liverpool fans. A very good player but he burned his bridges with Irish fans 10 years ago

A very good player but he burned his bridges with Irish fans 10 years ago michael owen is still a liverpool legend and remembered fondly if not quite as much as he should have but those reasons are footballing reasons.

I said I didn't think he was one of the greatest footballers ever.
In my opinion he is not in the same class as Maradona, Pele, Cryuff, Beckenbaur, Best and Messi.
My view is based purely on football reasons, I don't care who he played for or what else he did when he was playing for Ireland, he is NOT one of the greatest players ever based on his footballing abilities.
He isn't even the greatest Irish player ever, that would be Liam Brady an Arsenal player.

His opinion in whether Roy keane is a great player or not is as valid as yours but he isn't wrong when he says he isn't an Irish legend. He could have been but events transpired so that he's not. You saying how good a player he was wont change that

And it seems to me you are more worried about Ireland than you are about England, but hey we cant all be Irish. your bitter toward a fellow irishman not me i believe roy keane was one of the greats and his record backs my point up clearly , the driving force behind man united dominance won everything in modern day era one of the greats , but you choose to slag him and he is one of your fellow irishmen .

That judgement was based on my opinion of him as a player nothing else.
His behaviour off the pitch has no bearing on my opinion of him as a player.
He is not a legend among many Irish fans of which I am one bit that doesn't mean I hate him.
Not everyone agrees with your opinion on a forum and the sooner you accept that the happier you will be.
