excellent post mate, and ricky does not sound a bad bet at all.

We maybe cannot afford a world class striker but may need to buy a guy who has the potential to become one like Rondon from Malaga.

I would take Defoe myself and pair him up front with Andy Carroll, looks like Carroll will be staying regardless because the Club will take too much of a hit to sell him.

Realistic ones for me Negredo, Soldado, Huntelaar and De Jong.

Klaas Jan Huntelaar although he is turning 29 in August. For a price of about £12 million he'd be worth it imo. He would get 20+ league goals and link up well with either Suarez or Carroll

I have come to terms with keeping Carroll for another season. His last 3 games he played really well and he was decent in his England outing. I mean obviously he is never going to be world class, he has massive limitations. But it isn't beyond the realms of possibility with the right people around him he will get 20 goals a season, and contrary to popular belief swansea's big man up top made over 30 appearances last season scoring 12 (around that anyway) goals.

i would still prefer a world class striker obviously. Because we need world class players, which Carroll is not (and in my opinion never will be), but Carroll has shown that if he isn't playing every game he isn't worth having because he 'needs a run' as he and people on here like to say a lot, to get any kind of form out of him. So if we bought a new striker in we'd have to sell him, and I think Carroll has a bit more to show us. Now isn't the time, but maybe next season, when we can reflect again on how he has performed, having had more than enough time to show us what he can do.

We do not need a world class striker...
We just need a striker who are poacher in fron of goal and a fox in the box...
Someone in the mould of Rush / Fowler...
Does not need to be fast but extremely deadly when presented with half a chance especially in the penalty box...

My 3 choices would be :
1.Loic Remy...
2.Oliver Giroud...
3.Robert Lewandowski...

I would be happy if we get 1 of them...
