he is young. but he's not cutting it at the moment. along with a bunch of other players. babel needs a go up front before we decide to ship him out. he only had 10 minutes yesterday but he was awful when he came on.

What about 18 million pound Masch giving the ball away by taking 4-5 ridiculous shots from 45 yards out that had no chance of going in? No comment about that? What about Reina trying to be cute with the ball, and trying to make through passes that failed every time, or the fact that the ball came flying across the 6 yard box and he failed to attack it for a possible goal. Or the fact that nobody in our team seems able to cross a ball. Our passing as a team was poor. Once again, people watching Lucas to find mistakes, and ignoring those of others.

If you want to criticise, at least do it fairly. Don't just pick on one player you don't like. He has to fill Xabi Alonso's or Gerrards shoes, not an easy job. Who else apart from Lucas could we play there? Aurelio is not a midfielder, and yeah he is worse than Lucas there. Plessis is getting sent out on loan. Anyone remember Gerrard or Owen or Fowler getting sent out on loan much? I don't because they were close enough to the first team when young to be kept at the club. Plessis isn't even close. We don't have anyone else to play there who is better than Lucas.

Masch has proven himself to be a quality player at the club. Reina trying to make through passes and trying to be cute with the ball?? Think you've got our goalkeeper mixed up with someone else pal. I'm not ignoring the mistakes of others. However, the fact remains that Lucas is consistently exceptionally poor. He gave away the penalty at wigan and now looks afraid to challenge for possession. He is USELESS. Wake up and see it.

lucas lacks confidence and needs regular games ........ if he is not gonna get that with us he needs to go out on loan for a bit - at the moment spearing looks a far better bet to cover in midfield than he does

i can't believe you are saying spearing is not good enough - the lad certainly looks good enough and deserves a chance to prove himself imo

I don't think we have the time right now to be giving Lucas a run of games or a chance, maybe if we keep him in the summer he can get a good start in pre-season. Right now we need to play our strongest team possible to win as many games as we can.

It was our strongest team possible though with Gerrard and Alonso out, Lucas seems to be the whipping boy again for the result on Sunday, he played ok until the game opened up a bit and he started giving the ball away too often. he certainly played a damn site better than Mascherano who seems to be escaping criticism again despite having played far worse than Lucas for about 90% of the season.

Omar: Ayo, lesson here, Bey. You come at the king, you best not miss.

mash has been awful this season to be fair to the lad - quality player but needs a break till he sorts out whatever is affecting his game

as for spearing i can only judge on the games he has played - his few first-team appearances and games for the stiffs and kids and he has looked good enough to me .... i understand what you are saying about the coaching staff etc but just because they think lucas is better doesn't mean he is - it is one thing to look good in training and a totally different thing to perform on the pitch
