Can someone please explain to me why a "sweeper-keeper" like Reina would jump ship now that we've signed a manager whose system relies on a sweeper-keeper? If Reina leaves now he's a right idiot. His career stalled over the last two seasons because overly defensive tactics kept him locked in the box, unable to dominate because he's neither physical nor tall, and forced to rely on his shot-stopping ability (which got progressively worse). He can turn that around again now as we'll be playing more to his strengths of defending outside or on the edge of the box rather than flapping at missiles from 6 yards.
Quite frankly, the same can be said of Suarez - he's the kind of mercurial player who should excel under Rodger's system of keeping it on the deck, running at defenders, passing in the final 3rd, and working the space. He will be our Messi(ah). The players who could becomes disillusioned are Skrtel, Adam, Carragher, and perhaps to a lesser extent SG. Everyone else in the side loves short passing, playing it from the back, high pressing, and keeping possession. Yes, people will point at Carroll that he's not a man for a passing game, but there's still a case for an aerially dominant target man when teams sit back and let us have the ball [which people did to Swansea, and will do against us even more, especially at Anfield] - watch how Barcelona floundered against Chelsea because they couldn't hit it over the top.
This squad is young enough, talented enough, and interested enough in playing attacking, possession football that Rodgers should be able to get us playing more like a team that wants to win and wants to be together.

Your right that the style under Rodgers will suit them more, but look at Torres, if the grass is greener on the other side, they'll jump ship.

I'd like to think that Rodgers will have a window like last years. When he could buy players straight away with the plan to sell some eventually. I'm pretty sure that if he has he chance to bring in a target, then FSG will back him.
I can see a 50-60 mil transfer window for us. I believe Rodgers will bring in 4 players and one of them will be a pacey right winger, like what he used at Swansea. I wouldnt be surprised if he brought in 2.

I think there will be a few. Sure there werent any during January, but FSG has shown through every other window that they are willing to back the manager, but with the signings that we have brought in, they're probably gonna expect Rodgers to be wise, and to be able to give good reason to his signings.
Don't forget that there are a lot of really good players that won't be at the euros. 5 of the players I mentioned wont be there. Lots of good South Americans and Africans.
Plus you have nations like Switzerland, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine just to name a few.
That leaves midfielders like Granit Xhaka, Douglas Costa, Valentine Stocker, Willian, Fabian Frei, Fernandinho, Udil Ahmedov, Alex Texeira, Milos Krasnic and Danny, just to name some that won't be there who are IMO better than what we have.
Lots of good players out there. Got the feeling that Rodgers knows what he wants. Noted. In this case could really work out better for us then. Hope the scouts are out!

Let's hope so. Wouldn't be surprised if they're all at the euros.

Reckon we might have the man to put sg in his proper place.i hate to say it but a replacement should have been bought by kd last summer.people don't want to hear it but he's finished and has been for two seasons, great servant tho he was.he was picking his games with kd and at his age/condition he still persists with his england career One last hurrah at winning something of prestige i suppose. Just for our boy, i wish it would happen. In a sense, Stevie is un-replaceable.

People seem to be mixing things up here. I would agree that to date Carroll hasn't shown much aptitude for a pass and move style of football, so this is a fair comment.
But Brendon Rodgers' Swansea City team last year does not = pass and move football. They were very pleasing on the eye, but they weren't what one would typically call pass and move.
Because of this people are suggesting Carroll cannot play Brendon Rodgers football. This is false. Has anyone actually seen them play or done any research beyond what's on goal.com? Danny Graham anyone? I could be wrong but I think he is to date their record signing, on top of that he played in over 30 games, and is very much considered a target man (certainly no more mobile than Carroll). Carroll very much fits into how BR played his team last season. Whether we think that's a good thing or a bad thing is a different matter.
But BR does not = (typical) pass and move.
And BR DID play with a Carroll type player last season.

In all fairness, Andy Carroll does have the potential to run at defenders. He is a very intelligent player, as the ball approaches he’s already decided what to do and lays off well. He’s got a pretty accurate shot. He just needs to unlearn some of the things that have been drummed into his head, stuff like he is best with his head and not so much with his feet. A little more adventure would help. Here’s hoping BR can get the best out of him. Andy’s got loads of potential for sure, just need to know that he’s far better than he thinks he is.
