it's what's been said over time and time again - until Rafa has the same resources AND support as the likes of Wenger, Fergus you can not judge Rafa. He's worked miracles so far.
The club needs investment in order to make the move up to the next crucial level - the yanks cannot provide it and that is not Rafa's fault.

this whole benitez and his cautious attitude.... people these days we we're the top goal-scorers in all competitions last year (torres has been out for ages and so had gerrard) we are so far behind man utd, it's ridiculous that people are not happy with where we are, we're a team that is progressing 5 years ago we wasn't half the team we are now and i suspect in 5 years time we will be twice the team we are now i wish people would just count to 10 and think before they say silly things we are moving forward at a steady pace and people who can't see that then please keep your mouth closed until you open your eyes

One undeniable fact is, with Rafa in charge, our team is set up not to lose rather than to go and win! Ok if you're happy with that set up but we need to let our side off the leash a bit, we have the talent and only show it when losing and need to chase the game. Batter a team at the beginning and then tighten up, not HAVE to do it vice-versa!

The reality is that the vast majority of LFC remain behind Rafa and if the Americans get rid off him, the reaction will be very bad and anti Hicks/Gillette.

Im unsure of the sitution. Ive been behind Rafaa for a long time. However certain decisions and the quality of play leaves alot to the imagination.

Ive said it before. We are one of the least effective teams in the league. Far to often we have well over 60% of possession yet can only struggle to score one goal.

Some key stats from the weekend

Liverpool 17 shots off target 5 on target.

Man City 5 off target 3 on target.

Liverpool 60% possession Man City 40%%

Territoral Possession Liverpool 50.3%

So 20% more possession got us .3% Territoral advantage.

We are not very effective and thats just from one game. There is many more that show similiar stats.

yes but you dont judge a manger over a match but over a season and over seasons.

Look where we were 5 years ago, 3 years ago, 1 year ago. We are not the press that produce paper for the days fish n'chips and need to have knee jerk reactions. We're supporters.

The reality is that there has been consistent improvement under Benitez and we are closing the gap with Utd without the same kind of resources. Alan Green summed it up nicely 'With 20 minutes to go on Saturday and drawing Utd bring on Tevez, Liverpool bring on El Zhar.' A difference in resources.

It seems the grass is always greener but this is the first time for years we've actually been challenging for the title in February.

Suddenly all LFC supporters appear to think the Premiership is our birth right and expectations go through the roof.

Its unrealistic and if Rafa goes will damage us on the pitch for the next couple of years as whoever comes in- chosen by the Americans- brings in their own players etc with no guarentee of improvement and the distinct possibility that we'll go backwards.

I think its understandable fans are becoming increasingly frustrated with Rafa, but I dread to think what would happen if he left. I cant think of another more suitable alternative who is available, not to mention the probable player exodus.

It's right that his leadership is questioned- Istanbul and the crap board do not make Rafa untouchable. There are strong arguments in favour of his departure. The blind faith in certain players (or lack of in certain cases), our inability to break down stubborn defences, the questionable tactics etc. Its difficult to measure how much of this is exactly Benitez's fault given the boardroom situation BUT a large portion of the blame certainly has to lie on Benitez's shoulders. For instance the politics behind Robbie Keane's transfer meant Benitez's stubborness was certainly detrimental to Liverpool. Keane definitely deserved more of a chance, as did Peter Crouch, and I'm afraid Agger might be forced out too for no particular reason- all good players just victims of Rafa's dodgy philosophy. Whether we'll win a league under Benitez in my opinion is unlikely- it'd be such a shame to see players the calibre of Gerrard and Carragher never win a title.

Having said that we're lying second in the league, to what pains me to say is a flipping impressive Manchester United team. We're just going through the inevitable dodgy patch that we face every season- its just a matter of how quickly we can emerge from it, where we end up, and when the hell they're going to stop happening.
Benitez to stay for the time being- partly because there's no better alternative and he does seem like a man with a plan- all be it a slowly developing plan.

The problem is that we dont have the kind of money that Man U or Chelsea has. We are always at the losing end at the transfer market. I just hope that those youngster that we bought over a couple of seasons ago who are touted to be someone in the making are ready to take over from the seniors.

We all get frustrated at the way games go and with players that are picked but it's also far too easy to blame the manager - for instance whether you agreed with the team selection on Sunday or not, the games should have been wrapped up in the first half against Man City - you can't blame Rafa for that. That's football - the same way as City score a deflected goal and Blackburn should have been awarded a penalty...

We also do not have the benefit of Rafa and his staffs' first hand player information to be able to make our match winning team selections!

It's been said before, Rafa is having to compete with his hands tied behind his back and without the funds the other "top 3" have at their disposal and despite all this, he IS making steady progress season after season - THIS is what we need to look at, what else makes sense?

Personally, I cannot think of any other manager who could have done so much so soon, under the same circumstances... asking for his resignation is plainly and simply suicidal!
