This seems to be an unbelievably obvious signing. I mean we need what he can offer on the right and he needs what we can offer really, first team football, a good salary and European football (albeit in the Europa League).
If we don't even have a good look at this in the summer, I'll be extremely disappointed.

If we don't even have a good look at this in the summer, I'll be extremely disappointed. Exactly, it makes perfect sense for everyone. Can you imagine if downing gets his form back, we might actually have a starting 11 with two wingers....i almost fell off my chair at that.

If he wants first team football then liverpool is the ideal choice for him, we have no right winger we need one badly and he fits the bill quite nicely.

Cracking player! get him and get shot o Downing....meanwhile back in the real world............. he'll want to go to a club that's in a bit better nick than our at the moment sad t say. Awesome player though.

Even if we buy Johnson which I'm all for we'll probably play him as centre mid or behind the striker!
Another player who will be played out of position, Square peg round hole all over again.
Doubt he'll come though, We have more chance of getting Moses or Hoillet then Johnson.

I don't know enough about Moses or Hoillet to have an opinion on them to be honest but I know I'd like Johnson.
I really feel that Downing will improve next season. He looked good at the start of the previous one and just faded slowly away when it just wasn't happening for him. Like Darren_1981 says, it'd be nice to play with two real wingers for once.

Downing and Johnson on the wings and swapping sides throughout the game, Glen and Enrique overlapping, Gerrard pushing forward, Lucas breaking down opposition attacks with Suarez tearing the opposition defence a new arsehole and Big Andy holding the ball up for everyone. Sounds great.
