I'd have Diame over Jay Spearing but only as cover/competition for Lucas, I wouldn't want him to be first choice but he'd be a smart acquisition on a free and he's only 24 years old. Can't imagine he'd be on high wages either.

although he's a bit of a poor man's yaya touré he looks a good player. powerful and strong and quite quick for a lad his side. i think he would be a really good signing. we've been caught with our trousers down this season when lucas picked up his injury. we learned that gerrard, henderson, adam can't defend when picked alongside each other. i feel sorry for jay spearing but we need better quality than him if we're to break into the top 4. he's tried his hardest and he gets stuck in but just isn't good enough yet and probably won't ever will be. would love to be proved wrong tho

Would much rather see someone like Moussa Sissoko of Toulouse. Young, quick and strong in the challenge as well as offering something in attack. Not too highly rated but has been decent in the few games of his I've seen this season and wouldn't cost too much.
