Its clear that in the past few seasons, Gerrard has hardly completed a season and he isn't getting any younger. I think its about time the club announces a new club captain for next season especially if a new manager arrives. Carragher probably played his last season so he shouldn't be considered. I don't like goalkeepers as captains because they can't do [oops], for me it has to be an outfield player so that rules out Reina also.
For me Skrtel has been the most reliable player this season and is very durable lasting many games. I think he should be given the captaincy, may be Lucas as vice captain.

Sounds good to me but you don't know the dynamics of the social group. Only the manager seeing them ever day would know that

He was captain against Blackburn away and Skrtel was stand out for me. He'd be a brilliant Captain, but I think we all know the next captain is Pepe. IF he is still here. Do you agree with my thread about Gerrard Snakeeye?....if you do, please try explaining it to Mr.heggypompom

will need to be a player relatively young at under 25/26 years in order to be captain for the next 5-6 seasons. Leaves Reina young for a keeper, hendo carroll spearing coady lucas coates suarez, wilson wisdom
second the player will have to be a leader, love the club and be a good player worthy of playing the 1st team every game and have a connection with the fans this checks off most of the squad except Lucas, Agger, Reina,
Last the Captain should hopefully be english or Scouse, that leaves Spearing, Kelly, Robinson, Coady, Hendo, carroll, wisdom, wilson
It seems the smart pick will be Lucas, after that Reina but personally I feel it'll be Lucas then Hendo/kelly/robinson/Coady and bear in mind this will be in 3-4 years time when these players will have grown a lot and become 1st team players
But Gerrard will be captain for the next 3-4 seasons then 2nd choice after 4 years

i think it should be lucas with skrtel as vice captain same as its been gerrard and carra vice captain i like a captain being in midfield closer to the action most the time in my opinion.

Kelly! +9 million.  Most likely candidate is Lucas, followed by Skrtel, then Reina. Personally I hope we change captain next season, because that will allow us to have our regular leader on the pitch more often (injury) and will allow the manager to drop Gerrard when he under-performs (as happened to Carragher, the result being that Skrtel "came of age" in his position).

I think it will be a year or so until someone really starts to stand out. Skrtel, Lucas are favorites right now. If Carroll starts to play like 35m then I could see it going to him, but no way in hell will it go to Hendo. Shelvey could snag it in a few years as well. Gerrard is still the captain in my book. He just needs to find a more effective role in the first team
