Carrol may come good next season but can never live up to price tag hope he proves me wrong.
for me Nigel Dejong would be a good buy mascherano type player and doesnt take prisoners, him and lucas would make a good pairing for holding midfielder.
badly need a playmaker to fill gerrards boots, stevie got 2 good seasons in him yet but we need someone know to learn off him, and henderson is not the answer. not sure who can step in those shoe's.
Luuk dejong stiker from Ajax would be another good signing.
have to agree with much of KopAd86 views. maybe you should ask for a postion as adviser.

What a ridiculous childish comment to make.

...Anyway, I'd give Downing, Carroll and Henderson another season to make their marks at LFC. Carroll and Henderson, because they've showed a lot of promise, but just not consistently enough. It was Downing's first season, and Carroll's first full season, so I'd definitely keep them both in the hope that they can push on next season to a more consistent level.

Henderson, I'd keep because he's young, and has the potential to get a lot better. He's probably been the most disappointing out of all our signings. He's the hide and seek champion of the world. He's been seriously p*ssing me off in games lately, but I'd give him another season to improve (and he has a lot to do). If he doesn't improve, I'd show him the door next summer.

Adam is a different kettle of fish to the others I've just named. For me, he is what he is. We know his strengths and his weaknesses, and it doesn't seem like he has much (if any) potential to improve. He's not exactly a young lad. He's slow, sloppy and at times a liability. Also, unlike the other 3, he didn't cost us the world, so if we sold him, we wouldn't be looking at so much of a hit financially. I wouldn't be devastated to see him kept as a squad player if we could get in a quality CM.

If we do sign a CM, something will have to give. We currently have Gerrard, Lucas, Henderson, Adam, Shelvey and Spearing (Aquilani too, but I'd fully expect him to be sold). Add in another one and that would make 7. Adam, Spearing and Shelvey (on loan) are the likely departures for me, in that position.

Ironically, I think CM should be one of our top priorities this summer. Obviously Lucas is first choice but apart from him, no one else has really justified a starting spot. Stevie has had an absolute stinker of a season and is probably about 2 seasons from being at Carra's level. Spearing is a Championship player, as is Adam. Shelvey and Henderson both have potential but neither have set the world alight. And Aquilani is a good player but doubts remain about his ability to adapt to English football, both mentally and physically.

So yes, we have 7 or so central midfielders, but only 1 or 2 of whom are quality. There are a lot of midfielders out there that appear to be available for transfer - Diarra, Javi Martinez, Nigel de Jong, Granero, Honda, etc. Personally, I would prefer a creative type, but I wouldn't say no to de Jong, Diarra or Martinez. I'm a big fan of Martinez, and he can deputize as a more-than-capable center back if need arises.

I still don't understand what people see in Downing. For me, he's been our most disappointing signing. To be honest, I can't see us selling any of last summer's transfers this summer, even if Kenny leaves. So I'm sure he will get another year, but I don't think he's shown enough to justify a place in the team, let alone £20 million.
