firstly "linked" means nothing. its media vomit.
it all depends on the terms of a players contract. i also dont think players are going to be jumping on any spurs band wagons just yet. they'll need to put in a few more seasons before they are considered in our league. (yes despite our poor season we are still ma considerably bigger club than spurs with greater potential to improve due to our financial pull). as for bayern, not everyone wants to play in the german league, the spanish and english leagues are still the most attractive.

but I worry that not being in the top four and with spurs a young and upcoming team that they will be able to take players above us, also being in the champions league (if they make it) will help

not really, thats not how it works. it depends on the player and what the club is offering. who wants to go to city and sit on the bench for every game, playing in the early phases of domestic cups?

You dont think Hoilett will come to Liverpool yet you suggest we buy Martinez and Huntelaar.
So Hoilett, playing for a team about to get relegated won't come but Martinez and Huntelaar will?

King, Friedal, parker, Defoe, dawson, VDV, are all in their 30's or about to be, throw in Adebayor on loan and half the team will not be there in a year or so. Only Modric, walker and Bale stand out as young-ish and of high quality. Spurs have had nearly as bad league form this year as us, only there early part of the season has kept them in the hunt for champs league place.
