Always need to wait until we go down before we start to play?

Too little too late....

Very disappointing!

Sad state of affairs. Why keep Suarez isolated for so long. Carroll was class and needed to be on the pitch from the start. Spearing and Henderson can f*ck off. Surely there are better players than these two in our squad.

Well if you want to win against Chelski then I just can't figure out why we don't play our best formation and our best players.

Pepe
Glen-Skrtel-Agger-José
Bellamy-SG-Shelvey-Downing
Carroll-Suarez

No matter how I try I just can't find a way of justifying Henderson and Spearing somewhere near the squad!

If that formation doesn't work, then we need to play:

Pepe
Glen-Skrtel-Agger-José
Bellamy-SG-Downing
Kuyt-Carroll-Suarez

Why didn't we try any of those formations?

Dalglish put out the team most people would have gone for and if he had started with 2 up front and we had lost everyone would have said that going 4-4-2 in this day and age is madness. As for those 2 teams suggested, both would have needed Gerrard to play as a holding midfielder and we all know that wouldn't work and the 2nd formation is fantasy football. Its tactical ineptness at any level,

Spearing had his chance to prove himself midweek at home against Fulham. How'd he do? Terrible. Just like he's played all season. Once Spearing came off and Carroll came on the game changed. Should've been like the from the start.

Easy to say in hindsight. You generally need to have specialist holding midfielder in your team and whilst Spearing isn't the best we don't have many options in that department. The whole team looked like a rabbit in the headlights for the first half an hr, we just didnt play. The formation has no bearing on that.

So are you suggesting that Dalglish told them to continuously pass to the opposition and make sh*t decisions every time they had the ball for the first half hour? It doesn't work like that, the players have to look at themselves for the woeful start they had. It was exactly the same against Everton (with Carroll starting) in the semi, the only difference here is that we conceded a 2nd goal early in the 2nd half.

Well thats rubbish, otherwise the outcome of every game would be solely down to the manager as opposed to the actual players. I think there's an old saying about once the players cross that line..........? I'm sure you have heard of it

The fact is that you can play 4-5-1 and get players into the box if your passing and build up play is good. Most teams play that way and are successful and we have created loads of chances before today and missed them. The players just didn't perform for the first half hour regardless of formations, simple.

that second formation/tactic is ridiculous.

and the fact everyone thinks bellamy is better than kuyt boggles my brain.

hopefully we rebuild our horrible midfield in the summer because right now it's far too weak. it's gone from being our strongest area to by far our weakest.
