You can't always be so worried about injuries. Gerrard and Suarez could both go up for a header in the first minute, clash heads with eachother and be stretchered off. I hope nothing like that happens but you can never predict these things. I don't see much point in resting all these players.

They didn't need to get injured. Why do you think Reina didn't play? Perhaps his red card prior to the last cup game opened Kenny's eyes to the problems with depth in the squad so he wrapped everyone up in cotton wool. The expendables played. He could probably have started Sterling, but I think Kenny wanted to see if Maxi had anything to offer. When Maxi showed he had nothing, Kenny pulled Kuyt (probably for the bench/extra time/penalties on the weekend). The Enrique change was puzzling, but perhaps that too was a test or an experiment.

Make no mistake - this was a nothing game in Kenny's eyes, one he felt he could afford to sacrifice. But I think he was annoyed that the players had no heart for the game - that 11 should still have had enough to see off Fulham (who are atrocious away from home season on season) given how many games they have all played this season (except for Aurelio and Doni).

From what I have seen, kenny has viewed most league matches as 'nothing games' and sacrificed them, possibly to satisfy his personal love of the carling cup?

To say that kenny sacrificed the game suggests that he could have won it if he wanted to. Sorry, but we've been the most underperforming team in the country this year and are nowhere near good enough to be trying to decide which games we will win or not.

I think it's a disgrace that we are prepared to write off league games just because we have a cup final to play for!!!

Still, losing to Fulham, Wigan and West Brom at Anfield is acceptable if we win 2 cups! No it fcukin isn't!!!

Rafa got hammered for the Burnley defeat and rightly so, he however learned from this and we won the competition the season after along with qualifying for the Champions League!

The fact is we should have a squad strong enough to compete in both, especially when we have spent over £100million in less than a year!

Exactly! It baffles me how there hasn't been more uproar about our league form, it's an absolute disgrace! Any other manager would have been hammered from pillar to post for this season's performance!

Which is pretty much exactly what Kenny said in his press conference, but people on here mock him for it.

He staging Carra's last hurrah, of that I'm sure. The lad better play as well as he did against Norwich or Kenny will have (yet more) egg on his face. Personally I'm with you - Skrtel-Agger all the way.

And why would you say that? On 29 November Liverpool had 23 points and was in 6th ahead of Arsenal on goal difference (having drawn with log leaders Man City in our previous league game), and 3 back of Newcastle in 4th (who we had yet to play). We were still in the Carling Cup having just beaten Chelsea at Stamford Bridge (for the second time in a week). Hard to sack a manager at that point.

Things only turned bad for Liverpool after beating Newcastle in the last fixture of the calendar year (where have I heard that before - oh yes, 08/09), and we couldn't win much of anything other than cup games until recently. Kenny should either have gone after the Arsenal game (if 4th was THAT critical, given that we'd lifted a cup the week before and were still in the FA Cup), or after Newcastle when the team looked totally out of control - Carroll's antics, Reina's red card and more. Since FSG took neither opportunity, sacking Commolli instead, there really isn't any point in people continuing to chant "Kenny out".
