Nice formation but don't trust Johnson or Downing.

I've stuck with them 2 as we are desperate for a striker and I believe that all of our funds should go towards getting the best we can buy. If we coud fill 1 position only I would go for a striker. Suarez is great but his strongest asset is getting past people and creating for others - with him on the right we could do away with kuyt and henderson. I think downing is worth another chance - his lacks of assists is more to do with who he is crossing TO rather than the quality of the ball he his delivering in to the box.

There are players out there, and ones that would come to us. Maybe not if we had another season like this, but it's fair to say that you could put this one down to transition.
AA, LL and SG would be a stella mid. Think Javi Martenez would be great too, but there will be some serious teams after him. He should be our number on target. We need players that make Gerrard try.
A right winger and a striker on top of that and we'll see. Is it just me, or does anyone else want to see what Adam is like under someone else?

Love having Aqua back, being frank next season we'll need around 20 1st team players + the youth players in Flanno, Robbo, shelvey, etc
Honestly think it's realistic we'll have a go in the Europa league and to do that you need a massive squad of 1st teamers
In truth we need another dm or creative mid, a better cb although not urgent and another 2 strikers, with Aqua back we can check off the need for the extra cm
Upcoming world class players IMO for 2014 WORLD CUP: K-P Boateng, Gotze, Sturridge, Kroos, Lucas Leiva, Hummels, Kyriakos Papadopoulos,

Adam was good at Blackpool - not just a big fish in a small pond but a very effective midfielder with superb set pieces. Both him and downing are better than we have seen and I personally wouldn't cast them aside yet. Under good quality coaching and management I think they could both have good futures with us. Carroll is 'ok' as a back up type player or last resort sub if we need to go route one.

the problem with aqua when he was here was he couldnt cope with the tempo and the speed at which plsyers are closed down in the PL. he was to often caught dawdling on the ball, and eventually opted to just pass sideways and backways for entire games without really taking the game by the scruff. he is doing better in italy because you get an extra few seconds on the ball.

He wasn't given enough time to adjust. He came from the slow paced Serie A and had to fit into a different style of play in a different league. I believe he was adjusting because we saw some good performances from him just before he was sent away again. The only down side to bringing him back is that he'd had to readjust again as he'd be back to square one - he won't get used to the PL by spending 2 years in italy on loan! Even at his worse he'd be better than spearing, henderson and adam combined.
The question, would he want to come back though and join our fight to stay in the top half of the premier league? Or would he prefer to stay where he is fighting for a league winners medal and CL football next year? He might be italian but he isn't stupid!

I would definitely give him another chance. From what I've seen he was a very quality player that was not given time.

None of us really know who was primarily behind the decision to ship him out on loan again this season - the club or the player? Maybe both? I remember his agent coming out with a load of crap in the media, contradicting himself every second day.

Reminds me of Alonso's first season and a bit and he turned out OK.
