Johan Cruyff is the latest name to be thrown into the hat as a potential replacement for Comolli. Cruyff currently has consultancy roles with Ajax and Chivas de Guadalajara.
Cruyff is my all time favorite player and one of my favorite people in world football. He's an incredible innovator, a bit of a maverick, and is not weighed down by sentiment or emotion in achieving success. But he can be quite eccentric at times and is extremely stubborn. I'm not sure how well-suited he is to the club. I imagine he would want a hand in controlling certain aspects of the team, and it's getting to the point where he casts an enormous shadow over every club he's at and his influence isn't always appreciated. Basically, if we're going to have a director of football at all - heart says Cruyff, head says Dein.

according to reports johan cruyff has agreed in principal to take up a top post at liverpool football club most probably director of football , he has to tie up his other interests first with mexico club chivas an african club were he is an advisor and of course ajax , but this is looking more and more like a possiblity .

dun no it was announced weeks ago that he was leaving Ajax way before the sackings yesterday, it's just coincidence that he's leaving Ajax this Friday.
But of course does mean he is free so........

Don'r know much about him other than one of the best players ever of course. But then so was Kenny so that is good pedigree at least. But from what I do know he is a very strong personality and would be likely to have the ear of the americans maybe. I sense they want more control over whats happening day to day which indicates a mistrust or lack of confidence nacked up by Tom Werners words re disconnect. How this positions the King is anyones guess.

Not sure what to make of this if it is true,Cruyff can be very outspoken and a little eccentric but in the words of D'gaffer,"what that man doesn't know about football,is not worth knowing,so it's not".

I read that this morning on the bbc txts, not that thats anything to go by like! Ages ago didnt Cruyff say the LFC anthem was the best footie song in the world? not that thats anything to go by either.

As far as I can recall Cruyff was the man who first introduced Barcelona to the Liverpool pass and move game.
Since then they have made up the gap and passed us by quite a few country miles.
Maybe he can re-introduce us to the modern way of pass and move รก la Barcelona?
