People jumping to conclusions that it is a 'clear out' when it's probably just an adjustment. They don't need a football director... and it doesn't mean Kenny and everyone else is necessarily going to get sacked. I still maintain that it depends on the FA cup. That would surprise me immensely if they made their decision on the FA cup. Ken's objective was to qualify for the CL because we desperately need the additional finance in order to compete at the top. Do you know how much reveneue the FA cup brings in compared to the CL? The FA Cup is worth about £2m-£2.5m - The CL = £45m-50m. Chalk & cheese.

Quote: Does Damien Comolli's departure have any impact upon Kenny Dalglish's position as manager?
Absolutely not. We've got great confidence in Kenny. We feel the team is going to make strides in the future and he enjoys our full support. I can hear stanley and co. screaming from here! The decision on Dalglish has not been taken what else could he say any holding answer would have been read into. If Commoli has been sacked over the transfers its had to see how Dalglish could be seperted from that. And Dalglish is taking the club backwards we can all see that and so will the owners. The same goes for the vote of confidence in Ian Ayre there is more to come yet I feel. In any case why are you so wanting Dalglish to stay on are you an Everton fan? do you enjoy seeing Liverpool FC mid table? Who said I wanted Kenny to stay? I just respect the guy.

You can read into that what you will. "Commoli's departure won't have any impact on kenny's position",..only means that Kenny will be judged on his own targets and won't be sacked 'just because' commoli was.
Privately, there is no way they are happy with Ken. The 'great confidence in kenny' comment is a PR line to keep fans onside because Tom knows he'll be around much longer than Ken. It lines up nicely for KD to resign (at the boards request probably) without the fans turning on the owners and blaming them for his departure. FSG will be fully aware what a hostile fanbase can be like following the takeover from H&G so they will be wanting to keep things sweet. Mark my words. You seem to dismiss the fact that some owners stay patient and give a new manager more than one season to get things right. Most of the time owners will sack an underperforming manager but there is the odd instance where a club keeps faith. You also seem to dismiss the fact that if Kenny wins 2 out of 3 trophies (or even just the one) FSG and Henry will see this a fairly successful campaign and something to build on. We haven't won the league for 20 years and they probably didn't expect Kenny to do it in his first season as fulltime manager. But we have started winning and getting the the latter stages of the cup competitions, which is something we haven't done in a while. This may be seen as progress, especially as the UEFA competition is another cup competition next year. You seem awfully confident that Henry is another Abramovich type and you may turn out to be right... but I think you are overlooking other possibilities. Your whole defense of Ken is based on the fact that he "might" win us 2 domestic cups. His brief was to get into the CL where the real money lies. As we have shown this season, our cup form is not linked to our league form in anyway, shape or form so it is pointless to suggest that we are progressing 'because we do well in cups'. That's not where we want/NEED to be. Regarding Henry - I haven't suggested that he is anything like Abramovich. RA ploughed a fortune into the club, and bought players that he liked and his son liked, regardless of whether the manager wanted them - and then insisted that they get played! Yes, he's got through a few managers but the top teams often do.

Carheex mate,
I have never been as optimistic in any owners as I am in FSG
They have shown they will act if the have to
Kenny must produce results or he is gone, sentiment will not come into it
That is evident from today
I will listen, only if your answer contains wisdom

I think David Dein is more than just a rumor ladies. It's pretty obvious FSG want somebody like him at the club. Especially after all of the "controversy" we have faced this season and bashing from the media. Now that Comolli has been shifted out, it is the perfect opportunity and time for that to happen. (....and no, it's not based of a picture at the Blackburn game and no people have not put 2 and 2 again. ) If Dunc is right about outside "think tanks" (Barwick ESPECIALLY & Parry) and these are asked about a new director of football at the club. David Dein would be at the very top of the list, he is highly highly highly respected within football and has a very safe image outside of it. They tried to get him before, but he thought because of his ties with Arsenal, and still holding a percentage, it would be difficult. So FSG went for Ian Ayre...a fall back option.....they're learning their lesson about "fall-back" options! They want Dein, if they are serious, they will get Dein.

I do hope so. Dein has repeatedly shown a willingness to think outside the box and make some unconventional decisions - bringing in the un-heard-of Wenger and the under-performing Henry; selling the naming rights to the stadium, etc. - things that we probably need to do if we are ever going to challenge the Manchesters.

From what I've heard the impression I get is that they ARE going to seek a replacement for Comolli's role.
My gut feeling tells me that Kenny will go at the end of the season. Werner was very stern in his interview and the one thing that stood out to me was what he said about the results not being good enough. If he's making this point when talking about Comolli leaving, then surely it's even more relevant in Kenny's case?

Werner has comfirmed in the interview he gave on LFC TV, that they would be seeking a direct replacement for Comolli.
I believe they have the man already and will announce as soon as possible
Would be a good end of season story

I still feel Kenny has made his intentions clear, quietly, behind closed doors. Who's to say, Kenny doesn't walk into Comolli's position?
FSG are just prepping now, ready.
"Fail to prepare, prepare to fail!"
They are getting the back room sorted, then followed by the best manager they can get, given the freedom to spend on the right players THAT WILL 100% take us forward. No more Downing's, or Adam's or wishful thinking Henderson punts!
I expect nothing less next season, than us to be top 4 MINIMUM. It's a huge disappointment to miss out again for another season, but the owners are gonna show us (hopefully) that they've learned from their mistakes, and next season will show it.
Hopefully we can send the blue sh*tes back home sulking and then show Torres in the final, that if he wanted to win things, he should have knuckled down and stayed.
It would be nice to see Dalglish step aside, clutching the FA CUP with a smile, Torres crying in a blue shirt.....and then for a manager with genuine testicular fortitude and clout, with Dein behind the scenes, come in and take us on to the next level. The level FSG are apparently very serious about.
Oh, and that stadium we was talking about.........
Thing's are looking up for once folks, BRING ON THE TOFFEES!

Is Damien's departure a reflection that the ownership group were unhappy with the return on player investment?
I would say we certainly have the resources to compete with anybody in football. I wouldn't want to get specific about any particular decision that's been made. We feel there is enough talent on the pitch to win and, as I said, we've been dissatisfied, as most supporters have been, with the results so far. But we're also talking about the future - we have a strategy we need implemented and we felt Damien was probably not the right person to implement that strategy. He was definitely sacked, but not because of what happened last summer. I really don't know whether his is good or bad news, tbh. While I can't say Commolli has had a successful time in charge of the chequebook, I'm a little apprehensive that someone as involved in football scouting as he could object to a proposed transfer strategy to such a degree that he would rather leave the club.
