Ha! I didn't expect this stuff to happen till the end of the season! Maybe the owners think that they need to get somebody in soon, before the window? Maybe it is actually "mutual consent" and Commolli has got some sh*t going on in his personal life?
For me, if Melwood is in "meltdown" then one of two things has happened. One, the decision was all Commolli, FSG never intended to change anything in the summer either, and put all theirs eggs into this basket. Meaning, it's all a bit messy at the moment, because it was so unexpected so close to the end of the season....and he has practically "[oops]" on the owners.
Or 2, there has been a bit of trouble between manager and director and action was taken.
Personally I think FSG have made a quick move, well before the window. They've acknowledged that we can't afford another league season like this, next season. Anything other than Champions League football next season, is a disappointment (from the horses mouth).
I also feel they were a bit worried giving Commolli more money in the summer, in case of a repeat (notice how I didn't say Dalglish)
For me if anything, this indicates FSG are very serious about this summer transfer window, and will make sure the right man is in place for the club long-term and the right man to get us the best players we possibly can.
I think Dalglish is perfectly safe for now.
If David Dein IS the next director (if he is given that position) things can only be good folks! Arsenal have never been the same since he left! The relationship the director has with the manager is crucial, put it this way, Wenger didn't do to bad did he!
If Dein is the man, it could indicate a change of manager also. maybe Villas Boas.
