As an American, I am probably a bit biased, but I have been saying for years that Dempsey has been criminally underrated. He's been doing well consistently in the Premier League for several years but is only just now getting the recognition that he deserves. We could do much, much worse than signing him. He can play a number of different positions, scores goals, creates goals, and is a good leader. And since his contract is expiring next summer, we can get him relatively cheap. The problem is that he's gone on record saying that if he moves, it'll be for Champions League football. Obviously we can't offer that next year, and at 29, I'm not sure how much longer he'll want to wait.
