It's not all about henderson though is it? It's about liverpool football club. I could understand your argument of keeping him in the side if it was in support of a key player that will inevitably benefit the team, but we're talking about henderson...a player that has done nothing of any note since kenny made him 1st name on the team sheet. Why should the team suffer and be effectively a man down every game just to make henderson feel better?

NO it's not all about Henderson, it is all about the team and for the team to flourish in the future they are gonna need good midfielders. Now whilst Henderson might not be top notch yet, i think he can be, and I know you claim you have seen zero potential from him so far but I have seen his ability to pick a pass, especially in last nights game. Now if Henderson was bought for 20 million, I am sure he is seen as a player who can have an impact now but an even bigger impact in the future, but for him to have that impact he has to develop. For him to develop he surely needs to play as much as possible. I guess it all comes down to the targets which have been set. perhaps we are wrong and FSG would see qualifying for the CL as a great achievement but are infact willing to give Kenny two seasons instead of one to achieve that. Perhaps FSG has told Kenny, go win a trophy, set the foundations for a team for years to come and try and achieve as high a league finish as possible with their main incentive being getting Liverpools name back in the media, getting people talking about the club. There is a saying in marketing that there is no such thing as "BAD PRESS", any press raises talking points and that serves marketing purposes. I feel that FSG might be happy with rather taking several years to achieve their main targets of CL qualification and challenging for the PL, but making sure that their work is being done based on solid foundations. That way they know they are making a lasting investment with slow but secure returns. Surely that is better than just coming in and splashing millions on star players who will not stay at the club for long. The way I see things is that FSG are going about their business in the best possible way, they are paving the way for a long term successful project. This is why all those who want Kenny sacked will be disappointed because the club needs stability at all levels. The priority of course being the team and manager, once they have finished restructuring the team, they will slowly move on to restructuring management at higher levels, which is what is happening now. The teams foundations have been layed and there will only be minor tweaks from here on. They are now moving on to restructuring at a commercial and corporate level with new people being brought in.

To sum it all up, Henderson is one of the guys that needs to play if he is to develop and gain confidence, which in the grand scheme of things is for the good of the whole team and club. I don't feel he is costing the team that much and will infact prove a good investment in years to come. Henderson is still young and will play for many years, he was pricey but his wages are fairly low due to his age and inexperience so we are saving money there and are investing in player development. Why bring in older experienced players as an instant fix when, if you have the time and money, you can train and tailor a player to the exact requirements of the team as a whole?

interesting point of view

Hendo will come good, he is young and is a good player in the making just needs confidence

Hope your wrong about kenny though, we need a new manager with tactical nous on the pitch and decent transfer knowledge.

When you meet someone new (presuming you actually partake in first hand contact with human beings) do you actually present yourself as a Liverpool fan given the opportunity? If so, I have news that may come as a surprise to you. You are not a Liverpool fan. You're a Liverpool 'critic'.

It's going to be in your nature to take that as an insult and prepare some pathetic counter. Don't. It isn't an insult, it's a clear observation. You are the single only person who posts on this forum who i've never heard a positive of happy word out of. You never post during good times, and only come on here to bitch - whether we be in good or bad times. If we're in bad times, you come on to compound the misery and gloat as to how sh*t you already knew we were, and if we're in good times, you come on to try and p*ss on people's parade. You're a bit disgusting, and frankly, very miserable. Don't choke on your conrflakes whatever you do, but seriously, find a new hobby. Football isn't for you, buddy.

Stanley, I love you man, but you really REALLY need to get over Andy's pricetag. You constanly groan about it. He didn't set it himself, and shouldn't be continually hanged by it from people like you or anybody else.

No point saying "if he cost £8m". If he came through the ranks and played the way he's playing you'd be happy. He didn't thought, we paid a fee to get him. That fee is paid.

It's history. Done. Time for you to let it go. He's a Liverpool FC player. Just like Charlie Adam, Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson, Jay Spearing, Stewart Downing and Jamie Carragher. Doesn't matter what any of them cost, judge them on what they contribute alone.

Probably should have quoted him. I replied to him, which you can see at the top of the post. He had posted 3 miserable droppings in a row though, which is probably why I didn't quote him.

+1 lenny. I totally agree with you. Will he ever live up to his price tag? Maybe not. There were extenuating circumstances around his purchase, and we overpaid. Nothing we can do about it now. Will he make a contribution? I think so. He seems to do very well when Suarez and Gerrard are both on the pitch with him, and he has definite signs of ability. I want to see more.

Gerrard, Suarez, and Carroll have started the same game 3 times. We've scored 11 in those 3 games. Ok, 3 of those were own goals by an inept Brighton on the night, but still. What I've found interesting though is how much further up the pitch Gerrard plays when both strikers start. When it was only Carroll or Suarez up front, Gerrard languished on halfway all the time. I'm yet to understand why. To be frank, we need to stick with the ideas from the Everton game, even though they were weakened. Stick with 4-4-2 lead by Carroll and Suarez. Don't play Adam. Let Gerrard roam forward at will rather than keeping him on the leash. Our defence is supposed to be one of the best in the league, so let's trust it a little yeah? Oh, and play Kelly every week. He has about two dozen games under his belt and he's disappointed in exactly 1. If he could improve his crossing a bit I'd pick him ahead of Johnson on both defensive AND offensive ability every time.

To add a few cents to the Henderson debate, he's getting all the game experience in the world, but he really isn't cut out to play as a wide man. He can definitely pick a pass - he's been doing it all season when he finds himself in the middle, and I'm really surprised so few people on these forums give him credit for that. People look at assists and such, but don't look enough at how often Henderson makes a telling contribution in the build-up to a goal; my gut feel is that every assist Bellamy has from open play has come from a pass from Henderson that put him into acres of space. He's also very good at tracking back and putting pressure on the ball carrier. He has the right attributes to be an excellent CM for us in a few years, and I honestly can't understand the criticism he gets when he plays at RM. It's clearly not a natural position for him, so he will struggle, and it's not like he picks himself to play there.
